if your not looking for a remote start then theres not much reason to add an alarm, if it makes you feel more secure you can add a sensor or even a few sensors, shock, glass, towing/jacking, etc...
the single best thing you can do to prevent vehicle theft is a really good cut off switch. a good cut off switch can even stop someone with the keys & the remote. a good cut off switch can make it almost impossible for the car to be stolen without towing... a cut off switch is only as good as it's installation, just ~$20 worth of parts maybe, but the install is everything... the best setup is automatic arming & very difficult & impractical to find, but also very easy to use. I use magnet triggers, a switch is easy to find if it's convienient to use & difficult to use if it's hidden well enough... some guys even use existing switches like a window switch or similar, but I don't like to take the chance that a thief might get lucky & happen to play with all the switches, I'd rather swipe a magnet & bing, everything powers up... it's not common & no thief is going to figure it out. I've done them in the headliners so a magnet could discretely be left on the sun visor for service or valet without having to reveal the switch to anyone... I usually kill the ecu power itself, very difficult for anyone to diagnose & buypass, would take a professional mechanic at least 1/2 hour in a shop to figure out why it's not starting... most "alarms" can be bypassed in a matter of seconds... starter kills are a joke, again, matter of seconds to jump that out...
