Black Roof?

Dave, think you can photoshop a DG with a blacktop? Black out everything from the windows... up.

I don't know about the side mirrors... since they're completely within this area, I think they would probably be black too... oh and DG plastic trim around the bottom too. I know I'll eventually going the body matched plastic trim and door handles route, but don't know how a black top (not just black roof) would look... thank you :6wink:

I was thinking the exact same thing when I was looking at those overlays the other day. Glad someone actually did it. I don't think it looks bad at all, but yeah I think it would have to be more black. Back when I had my C-class people would do it and it looked sick. No reason why it can't look that good on our cars. I wonder how much it would cost to paint?

Tall request, . . . but sure

Could look better or worse from other angles . . .Dunno
Likely better with black bars too

yeah, gotta go black from the upper body line & through the hood & tops of the lower doors too... kinda 2 tone, then you also may need some sort of stripe as a break line maybe...

I played with that in ps before I painted my fx trying to come up with a nice scheme but in the end I thought it took some of the classy look away, guess it depends whats done elseware too, & wheels, etc... & what kind of overall look your going for...

how about a vinyl top FX, like these caddys?

Pass... I like the way it looks on the Z because it matches well with the windshield and rear window. On the FX, it looks funny to me because the black patch is "skinnier" than the windshield.

Well I wanted to steer clear of the hood rat 300 / Charger, etc. two-tone look that bit directly off of original Foose designs and instead do what's called a blacktop.

You can see it pulled off well on this NSX:

Personally I'm sorta liking the blacktop look with the FX's lines...

I really do like it. Maybe someone can do a photochop that lets use seem more of the hood? from the side it looks great, something i would even consider doing. Jon raises an interesting point about the hood though.

Anyone?

imotionfx had some good photoshops a while back. It included following the line around the upper portion of the fenders and front hood area.
