Hi to everyone on the site, I've see some great pictures of FX mods on your site. Great work.

I'm new to the site, an also new to owning an FX. I will be picking mine up later this week, a used '04 FX45 with Nav. I never really knew that so much could be done to this car. I like the looks and the performance of it. Anyway, make a long story short, I want to do some modifications of my own, probably starting with the audio system, and move out from there. From what I've seen on some on the threads on this site and others is that its impossible to replace the entire HU. I've seen some pictures with an aftermarket radio in the slot where the clock is. Otherwise, has anyone put in new speakers, subs, and amps through the stock HU and what have been the results, what products were used, what are some of the best retailers online or in my area (I live in Long Island, NY), also, I'm not installation savvy so I would also like to get info on some reliable and reputable installation shops. Any type of help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mel Man.

Welcome, enjoy the Scene... I can't help you with all the requested info... but there will be plenty of help from the guys here

The option I went (no pictures right now because everything looks ugly) was a computer install. I put a laptop under the passenger seat and routed all the cables through the center console.

Relocated the stock screen to the clock location you were talkin about, then put a 7" touch screen up top.

I'm working on the DVD drive in the arm-rest... replaced my subwoofer with a Diamond Audio 12" in the spare wheel well, wired it into where the stock was wired, but had to put in an amp as well.

Swapped out my front dash speakers, but the last pair I got doesn't fit, so I gotta go back. I believe the 3002cf are the ones that actually fit, and as the numbers go higher, they start gettin too big to fit. The air ducts for your AC get in the way.

As for the door speakers, a guy on eBay makes spacers to fit aftermarket speakers. They're a 1" thick MDF spacer that you mount the aftermarket ones to since they wouldn't otherwise fit. The Bose speakers are abnormally shallow...

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the welcome. And thanks to Cube fo the information.

Cube, is it possible for you to post some pictures so I can take a look at what you have done. Thanks, and if anyone else out there has some other suggestions please let me know.

Thanks again.

No quality pictures right now, when the project is finally finished (motor issues got in the way) I'll do a whole write-up on my setup including pictures.

Still working on a good mount for my touch-screen...
