StealthFX 45 Stillen Exhaust

Thanks again guys. Just a quick update, I have not been able to go back to my mechanic or to a muffler shop to do the "hanger mod" coz of my busy schedule but im planning to go this weekend. It wouldnt mess anything up if it just rattles right?

No, it should not. More of a nuisance then anything. But it depends on how bad the rattling is. But just take care of it as soon as possible.

I just installed the HKS mid pipe and have the same issue. Everything bolts up perfectly, but was disappointed the bend is slightly different than OEM mid pipe which creates the rattling noise. I brought it back and the mechanic slightly bent the "W brace" and it eliminated the rattle unless I hit a really big bump.

The extra hanger is great suggestion. I'll go in this weekend to get that done, hopefully I'll have time. For such an expensive exhaust, it should not rattle unless I just got a bad one.

Hey jc, I actually had this same problem (even worse because it rattled every time I accelerated) after I installed my y-pipe. What I ended up doing was adding another hanger above that area and welding a hanger onto the mid pipe to give it a lift and support. Do not remove that black v-shaped bar. That will eliminate the rattling/rubbing.

Pierce, I found another solution. I did the extra hanger, but removed it for a cleaner look. I bought poly-urethane exhaust hangers (9mm, do not get 8mm). No rattle. The reason is these are much stiffer than OEM hanger and even Nismo hanger. I think they come in blue for you Pierce. You only need two as the other two hangers are different sizes. These are hard to get on, just make sure to use some wd-40, but they do work really well once on.

So I'm assuming you installed your new y pipe and the exhaust started to rattle? And so you replaced the oem rubber hangers with these stiffer ones and did not have to install the xtra hanger on the midpipe?

If so....it looks like another good alternative.

I would not know if it would start to rattle or not after installation of y pipe as I didn't test it. After I installed y pipe I cut the extra hanger off and installed the new stiffer poly-urethane hangers. No rattle!

I did have a rattle with the HKS mid pipe because it hit the W brace. Extra hanger that you suggested fixed it. I some how came across these poly-urethane hangers after I saw Rookie's Nismo exhaust hanger post. Figured I might give it a try and it works! There are 4 hangers total for our exhaust systems. 2 are left OEM to still have to leeway, and the other two were changed to poly-urethane to prevent the rattle over bumps/etc...

older post bump, but just to clarify, you are using 2 polyurethane hangers on the midpipe section and 2 stock hangers for the muffler section?

Haha, I'm here.

Only buy two. One is for the midpipe, one is for the muffler section. There are 4 hangers total. There are only TWO that look like the ones that you buy, so there is no option. Buy two, and replace the two that look just like it.

The other two are different shaped hangers, leave those stock. You still want some flex in your exhaust, too much stiffness can lead to cracking! This will stiffen your exhaust in the right places, while still giving you flexibility! Perfect solution -- with no extra hangers etc..!
