Any Replace starter on FX50?

For last last few months, I have noticed that my FX50 would not turn over. Being that I replaced the battery with a high end Optima battery, I knew it has to be the starter as I also hear just a click and it's also the factory starter at 140k miles. Seeing this bloody starter is a PITA to get too I am curious to as what brand have you guys went with to replace it? I see the factory Infiniti is $573, but I can get other good names for $200 or less. I will be taking this to a mechanic as this will take me too much time to tackle so I will need my extra funds to go towards labor also. If you all have recommendations or insight to this situation, I am all ears! I am also thinking about replacing some of the tensioner pulleys as I am starting to hear some squeaking and I'm sure the belt is the factory belt as well! Hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving and have a happy weekend you all!

Just came across this post and wanted to ask if you ended up getting the starter replaced? I have had some issues in the past where I hear a click and the engine does not turn over but after a few attempts it will start. This has has happened occasionally now over several years but then it goes away and starts fine for months before happening again. Currently have 134k miles and starting fine.

Hello! I ended up taking my FX to get the starter replaced. Parts and labor WITH new intake manifold gasket was around $1200. This was for an Ultima starter and factory Infiniti manifold gaskets. Unfortunately they do not make an aftermarket manifold gasket set, so you have to eat a nasty price for the infiniti brand. If I remember right the gaskets where $260 ish. I heard you don't "have" to replace them but I figured it would be weird not too since they are right there and could saved hundreds down the road if they needed replaced in n the future.

My Infiniti starts right up now and turns over as it should. Make sure you don't leave your starter like that for too long because it could leave you stranded and a tow truck might add to the repair cost. This almost happened to me as I was at work when I spent almost an hour trying to get it too turn over.

A tip for anyone that knows about a faulty starter, if your starter is indeed bad and will not turn over you can "tap" the starter to engage the solenoid WHILE turning the ignition over. Unfortunately this is cannot be done in our cars as the starter is under the intake, the way I was able to get the starter to engage, was to raise the hood then drop shut it fairly hard to put a slight vibration in the engine. Don't SLAM it but almost let the hood free fall from it's normal height. This is what I believe got me home as right after I did that, it started over. This was after I had tried dozens of times to turn it over. Hopefully this helps anyone out there!
