Im having an issue with my Qx70 .
Ive owned for over a year now and still not sorted can anyone help???
Key light on dash was on when purchased, seller said battery in fobs were lows I purchased anyway.
when I got used to car noticed that memory seat function had never worked since I got it. Everything else worked fine, even electric seats.
1. Changed batteries
still the same
2. booked in at dealer
they said auto selector was pulling up fault so should replace. Changed no difference. £800 ouch.
3. booked back into dealer for further diagnostics
they then said BCM relay needs replacing. you could then get system to work occasionally but then not at all (after a couple of days back to not working and key light on)
4.had dealer replace keys and recoded them
no change.
If you reset the ecu by disconnecting battery for a short time it works, then fails after a short time.
I remember after reseting it a few times the light would come on after Rain or washing the car!
5. remove carpets check for water nothing. while doing this I also sorted sunroof drains and modified as I knew they could be problematic.
6. I then put extra Ground wires from battery to cabin and engine points.
7. Ive gone over all engine bay and cabin grounding points checked and cleaned and improved.
8. Ive also looked at the how the water runs off the windscreen and into the engine bay bulk head area, which i have created new water ways by the use of either tape, silicon or other methods to try and direct the water away from the electrical wires that pass through the bulk head.

Im now at the point where the problem is random (works 30% of the time) which as you can see is a great improvement!!!
Me and the wife now joke about it!
Has anyone else had this issue?
Can anyone help?

Interesting. Have you try to insert and leave the key in the key slot while driving instead of having the key in your pocket for a few day just to gauge the behavior?

My wife always put the key in the slot. I don't tend to, but will from now on. She is the main driver. Does anyone know what the key slot does????
 
This was a copy of dealer diagnostic screen when they still couldn't find fault. Bear in mind they had all ready replaced the Auto Selector and the BCM. They had the car up to 5 days in total. I also had them replace key fobs.
I asked for this copy as I was well pissed off as you can imagine!!
Ive not been back to dealer since. Like I say the fault seems to intermittent and since then I've done extra grounding and looked into any water ingress(I have found no water in the cabin)
Any Ideas?
 
Just a thought when I had dealer change auto selector and BCM ,because they couldn't fort fault out I demanded a picture of the faults from their diagnostics. Which I have posted earlier in the feed.
I had thought that they would have had to re-trim auto selector to work with ECU. Im presuming They have done this?? as the appropriate gears are highlighted on the dash screen.
They did tell me that the auto selector had several microswitches on it and it was the one that the memory seat circuit needed to see that the car is in park??
Any ideas??
 
Do you think I should try another dealer to see if the auto selector was calibrated correctly?
 
Not sure what you should do next. The BCM seems to be issue, but you have already replaced it.
