Ugh, my rear subframe is rusted and the bushings are pretty much dead.... whats the cost to get this replaced by infiniti? I need to take it in to get the transmission serviced as well so might as well.... NYC snow / sale and crappy weather has not been kind to my undercarriage!
ent ahead and purchased a new rear subframe, paid 850.00 plus 100.00 for shipping (off an infiniti dealer in the west coast.) I'm having a reputable shop install it (dropping it off saturday) and will pick up in a couple days. i also for used REAR SUBFRAME BRACE BRACKET STAY BAR on ebay for 50.00.
I'm excited and nervous at the same time, this is a pretty big job. My mechanic is charging me 700.00 for this job. Infiniti quoted me 3200.00 for the entire job... i was like... NOPE.
Great idea. If possible, take a few pics of the old subframe once it is removed. I would love to see how the topside looks, as well as the bushings. I am in a salt zone as well.

i'm dropping off the car tomorrow and leaving for Boston on Monday, i'll ask them to snap a few shots for me. I'm nervous that they don't find anything else that's bad down there because i don't have a budget for anything else at the moment and id hate to revisit the undercarriage anytime soon... after this, i'm spraying some antirust paint under there.
I'll also ask them to look for a loose head sheild that i cannot find, i dont think its my cat converters making that noise, but, you never know.
unfortunately it could be one of your cat shields me to i live in salty city MONTREAL and my problem was the shield from the cat drivers side second gen 2011 fx35 on my ex 2004 fx it was the shield over the rear exhaust muffler
This job is complete.... New control arms as well and wheel balance! The only thing i need to do now is replace my driver side window master switch, which cannot just be popped out, i tried and failed, so looks liek i need to pop the door panel off and install. but other than that, car runs amazing, went on a 100 mile drive the other day and drives and handles great.
Something i need to watch out for, we've noticed during alignment that my rack & pinion had a light leak, not dropping, just a light light light leak. so i'm considering ordering a used one from ebay and getting that installed but then it required another wheel alignment. but was told i can wait and do that summer or something.
You are lucky you are able to do it for so little money.
My infiniti dealer in Toronto (Markham to be precise) wanted $11k CAD to replace the sub-frame, and the rear control arms. An independent didn't want to really touch it because of not knowing what other bolts will break in the process, due to the heavy rust.
