Today i got hit with the code:
P0081 INFINITI Code - Intake Valve Control Solenoid Circuit Bank 2

I looked everywhere for a solution and even an explanation but cant seem to find anything anywhere. Do i need to replace the Engine Variable Timing Solenoid?

I'm off Friday so i can look into it.

I'll be replacing both of these on my FX35, bank a and bank b. Both Parts are exactly the same, i ordered a set of Hitachi OEM parts.... 10MM screw looks pretty straight forward. Also looks like its leaking... i'll also clean and re-tape the cable area for protection.

it looks like my car was in a flood but it has not... lol, NYC snow and rain and salt has done a number on my engine bay compartment in particular this year.

I bought the Hitachi solenoids for my FX50 and have had no problems with them. Place a rag under the solenoid when you remove them. There will be a bit of oil that will leak out. Overall it's an easy repair.

Thank you reminding me, i'll place a rag and a towel. Will there be significant oil or just a little? I will go to autozone to get some oil.

Just a few ounces. But it can get messy if you just let it drip. The solenoids will likely be stuck, especially with the rust. I actually broke one and part of it stayed in the housing. I had to use a large lag screw to get it out.

i'll make sure to spray B'laster PB Penetrating before attempting to remove. lol The bank 2 one seems a lore more corroded than bank 1. i'll start with hat one first. should i make a video out of it?

Replaced drivers side but took time....
i had to remove the cover entirely because the old VVT broke in there. Super annoying because i need a new gasket now. No leaks yet, but i fear there will be one. What is the name or part number for the vvt cover?

I don't think there is a gasket. I believe they just used liquid gasket. I used Permatex Ultra Black when I removed one of my covers. If the other one breaks, a large screw and insert into the opening, right into the part that is still inside. Give it a few turns and tap it out. Use the one you're moved to figure out size bolt.

Mine has a metal gasket and now its leaking in the right bottom because one of the bolts broke into the head. A Straight forward job turned into a pain in the ass.

Changed out these parts and also removed the broken bolt. I also have the passenger side cover but its not easy as unbolting, we tried... lol

Wow, you don't mess around. Hopefully it solves your problem.

i have the pasanger side cover as well but its not leaking or anything, just really dirty, so i just changed the VVT Solenoid instead. Not the cover. I may sell the cover on eBay, or just jeep it and have it installed sometime in spring.

After this work i def need to degreese my engine bay now.

I suggest that you hang on to the new passenger one for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if that sides starts having problems in the near future. Did the new covers come with gaskets as well?

No i had to order the gaskets myself but they were only 8.99... weirdly, i got gasket received for the drivers side were was part number 23797-N00B and when i checked the fitment it said it will not fit, yet its pretty identical to the one i replaced. The part number that "fits' on my fx35 is 23797-JA10B, the parts are pretty much identical... No leaks or anything, so i guess if i have any leaks i will get the 23797-JA10B.

I'll keep the passenger side and save up to get it replaced. Its not an easy job.

Also, FYI, i won these parts in a random bid on ebay for 550.00 + 100.00 shipping from Dubai on ebay.
