Hey guys, new to the forum here as I became a proud owner of a 2009 FX50S about a month ago! So a bit of background...
The car is a 2009 registered in 2010 with 190k kms on the clock. As far as I know it has been fully serviced by Infiniti here (confirmed when I spoke with the service dept)
Car was working fine for about a week after buying - but then all hell broke loose.
After driving to a location coolant was leaking out the front right side after I heard a knocking noise in the cabin on the same side. I got the car recovered to a trusted garage, and apparently had blown a radiator and a coolant pipe at the back of the engine. I was also told that the head gasket had gone and needed replacing.
So the engine was stripped, head skimmed and put back together with new plugs and filters etc. When I went to pick the car up I noticed a weird knocking on idle and there was a lot of vibration. Cue sending it to Infiniti and getting a bank 2 air fuel ratio sensor replaced.
Now since its come back to me the engine idles great and runs very smoothly but there is an issue.
If I plant my foot and go wide open throttle, the first revs to 3k rpm feel as rapid as it did before. After 3k rpm the power seems to be holding back and by 5k rpm its stuck. No more power and refusing to change gear. It just hangs at around 5k rpm as if there's a limiter. The strange thing is that if I give it 50-70% throttle (complete guess but basically not wide open throttle) it seems to be fine although it changes up by 5k rpm. The issue only arises when I go wide open throttle. I have also noticed that when I manually perform a gear change using the paddles the stability control light flashes momentarily while it changes gear. This is all done in drive with DS mode garnering the same results.
Now when I took the car I plugged in my obd scanner and initially found a code for transmission - P1721. But after clearing that code it hasn't come back.
So far I have tried the pedal dance to reset the throttle bodies to no avail.
The car is completely stock but I have some K&N filters waiting to go in after I fix this issue.
I feel like the car is fine now but for some reason full throttle (WOT) is causing me issues. I will try and take a video later this week to show the issue but if anyone has any feedback I would love to hear it!
