Will my 2003 FX exceed 300,000 miles?

Bought my 2003 FX 35 in 2006 and immediately ordered scheduled maintenance parts for 300,000 miles. Today (June 2021) I have 275,000 miles and I'm deciding what to do at the 3000,000 mile mark (if the engine and transmission hold up)

I have an annual budget of $1500 for unscheduled maintenance and have spent nothing for the past 2 years so have a surplus to dump into driver seat reupholstering and beefing up the brakes.

The weak points are the brake rotors - are OEM the best or are performance rotors better. Which ones?

The transmission slips occasionally after downshifting to first - this has hapened and not worsened for 5 years. Would Lucas "Stop slip" help?

New leather on the seats might come close to $2k.
Powerstop cross drilled/slotted rotors and akebono pads work very well.
Downshift from 2nd to 1st is probably not a slip but a hickup instead. Downshift manually and while doing so, give just a little bit of gas. The jatco trans is crapco.
 
i have powerstop slotted rotors with oem pads lasted 15k before warping. Can these be turned? Would oem be better?

Looks really nice. Like new. U wanna spend some money on it, get h&r drop springs. They'll drop it a bit but more up front to level it off which will actually help with braking by reducing nose-dive.
I'm surprised they warped. Try to get'em turned and they'll tell you for sure if they are warped.
I prefer the powerstop over oem. I used they're carbon ceramic pads for a few years but they started emitting too much brake dust so I got'em turned and went with akebono pads.
The powerstop pads need to be bedded. The oem's don't. That might be part of the problem? The akebono's don't need bedding but so far so good.
 
Stock brakes are way too small for the job. Weakest part on the car. You can get away with just Upgrading your fronts with the 2009 sport calipers. then get some aftermarket Rotors and pads.
 
I suppose it could have. I had mine turned at O'reillies (spelled right? Don't care). If they're warped, they can't turn them.

Will 09 calipers fit on stock rotors?
 
Bummer. The calipers are much lighter but the larger, heavier rotors kill the deal for me.

New leather for the drivr seat is $2500 from Infiniti - IF they still made it. ouch.

Car upholstery places want me to bring them the assembled leather seat kit ($400 to install) - WTF?

If I could trust an aftermarket seat kit I probably could do that installation myself.

Is there a reputable aftermarket seat kit or company to recommend?

Otherwise I am at the mercy of ebay schlock.

Man, you have some funny shops over there, the average car upholstery shops charge around 1500$ for full leather + new filling for front AND back seats around here :rolleyes:

A reputable shop should do it for $1500-$2,000. The original seat covers seating surfaces are leather but the sides or "bolsters" on the seat back, the seat itself and the back of the seat's back are all vinyl.
I had all mines done in full leather, had the foam replaced in both seats and got an extra, let's call it a band cause IDKWTF it's technical term is, an extra band in the seat and the back. I opted not to get the Infiniti stitching on the backs. Paid $900 a seat. I love's'em and so does my ass!
