Anyone upgraded their OEM spare tire sub? Thinking of installing the Cerwin Vega VPAS12ST or JBL Basspro sub.

I installed the Cerwin Vega VPAS12ST into my 2015 QX70

Ran an 8 gauge power wire (with fuse) from the battery to the hatch (blue wire in the picture) and a ground as well. Then connect the following from the bose harness to the sub harness

Grey wire= remote wite
red wire= positive + speaker terminal
green wire= negative - speaker terminal

Power wire to the thick red on the sub harness
Ground wire to the thick black on the sub harness
 
How does it sound?
Did you notice a weight difference between the Bose and Cerwin?

The sound difference is night and day. The Bose does nothing compared to the Cerwin Vega.

As far as weight goes, it's been a while but if I remember correctly the Bose sub weighs a lot less than the Cerwin Vega as well. 5 pounds versus 10 or 15 pounds.
 
Ah. I read somewhere that it weighs around 25lbs. I've been considering a spare tire located powered sub. There's this, the JBL op mentioned above, a Pioneer I believe is sold overseas only and the Rockville RockGhost. I did come across others but they were as or more obscure to me than the Rockville unit.
Don't mean to jack your thread op.

It could weigh closer to 25 pounds, its been a while since i did my install so i don't remember now.
 
Even if it does, it probably weighs far less than a standard enclosure and it's out of the way. I like it!
