High Idle

Hey guys, FX started to idle high (round 1200) and SES came on, codes P0171 + P0735 popped up. P0735 is fifth gear trans related, anyone any experience with this?? P0171 can be a number of things, just looking to see if someone can steer me in the right direction, is it a usual suspect with first gens or will I just have to start checking everything? any advice is welcome!
 
No mods, I'll look for vacuum leaks, just trying to find out if there are any standard issues with this code on first gens, thanks!
 
update: Had the throttle body cleaned (it was dirty!) but that wasn't causing the high idle, then I had the intake manifold gaskets renewed and the idle has dropped back down to normal. But now the FX sputters and holds back when accelerating, mechanic thinks it could be the MAF so he's dropping a new one in tomorrow to see if that's the issue (he's gonna be real gentle so that if it's not the MAF he can send it back!)

Thing is, if it is the MAF, which one should I buy?? I checked online and found MAF's for my FX ranging from 30$ to 600$!!! Is there a big quality difference? is a cheap one OK? can anyone give me some advice on which brand's to buy? I'm trying to buy local (Netherlands) to keep delivery fast.

Brands I've run into: Pierburg, Vemo, Denso, Blue Print, Hella, Ridex, Stark, Meat&Doria, ERA, Herth+Buss. Prices range from 30 - 600$

HI.. The rule of thumb is only buy OEM sensors.. Don't use aftermarket ones!
 
Thanks for the feedback dragonh, We dropped a new OEM MAF sensor in and my FX has never run better!! Idle is perfect now and throttle response has improved significantly, I've had the FX for 4 years now and it's never run this good, shifting goes much smoother now as well.
