There is nothing worse then coming outside to see your car get hit

I am devastated about this, i just got my FX back in February and now i keep thinking to myself that it's ruined.

My friend who works for infiniti recommended me to a place right across the street from my dealer who specializes in infinit's, bmw and Mercedes so i know it's in good hands. I'm just so upset over it and plus not having it for about a week or 2.

This is a shot in the dark but is there any way you think i could finagle having the body shop order the aftermarket OEM front bumper and put that through the total cost of the insurance claim?

Bummer on the hit.
Re, the parts. If insurance, They will likely order what they need to replace and no more. It's not worth their risk if they do much Ins. business

I fully agree with GTO...
The good news is that it looks like your bumper only got damaged + headlight and no other body panels...still, between parts, paint & labor we are talking 3 to 4k easy!

Yeah it's just the bumper and busted up headlight. Only other thing is they just have to adjust the hood and the quarter panel is pushed against the passenger door a little. i guess it could be worse.

It actually looks like an expensive fix. There's some other goodies back there too including radiator supports etc. I'm sure the headlight alone is north of a grand.

I bumped a pole some years back. The fix through insurance was 4K+

Indeed...having worked at Porsche Prestige, LoJack and one of the largest body shop network in Canada I can tell you that your hit is light
Sometimes you can only discover the extent of the damage once you start removing bumpers and panels. You were lucky in a way
Everything is expensive from OEM parts, even refurbished/jobber parts, to paint, labor...etc it adds up very quickly and driving an premium brand does not help
Above anything you should trust the body shop who is working on your car and she will be better than new do not worry!

Thanks FX Montreal and GTO for making me feel better. I know it will come out great especially my friend from infiniti recommended the place and plus seeing all kinds of Bmw and Mercedes in there is definitely reassuring on top of the good yelp and google reviews as well.

The only thing that bothers me is leaving a car with someone for long period of time, but i will get over it and they said they would call/text me with updates so just a matter of time before ill have the FX back.

if you look close at that picture it looks to me that the fender is damaged right on the corner where it touches the front light so that's another peace that needs to be fixed there's always small details that we miss

That's terrible. I'm still waiting on mine...4 weeks and counting. Shop up to $9K in damage.

Hard to see

Hard to see bend, but might be there. dunno. On my fix we just replaced the whole quarter panel. Part of why it was so much.
Hopefully every thing works out well for ya

well if I'm not mistaken it's right there inside the red circle

you can absolutely get aftermarket parts. the way most insurance claims work is that the adjuster will write up an initial claim estimate and sometimes give you a check. you then take it to the bodyshop of your choice and show them the estimate. they can either work with that or they can't. if they think it will cost more then they will have to do a teardown and show the adjuster. the additional repair cost will be written up in a form of a supplement.

you can look at the estimate and replace any parts from your own sources. if you got an fiberglass aftermarket bumper that will require a lot of prep work then you'll have to pay anything over the replacement cost in the estimate. any problems with the fitment and finish of the aftermarket part will then be between you and the shop. btw, they typically only obligate to replace the parts with suitable ones from the same year or newer but not necessarily brand new oem.

That quarter panel is actually fine, it's just the angle i took the picture looks like it's damaged. Only problem with that panel is it is slightly pushed against my passenger side door. i'm sure they will just adjust it.

Looks fantastic! I'm hoping to pick mine up tomorrow. In the body shop for 2 months! Was supposed to be done yesterday but had an airbag fault. Insurance had to approve additional money. They already shelled out over $9K for the repairs. They agreed to replace clock spring. Hope that's it.

It's amazing what body shops can do. Three weeks after buying a brand new QX70, some woman hit me from behind, pushing me into a van in front. It came to $16,000. I was extremely upset, but after I got my vehicle back, it really was as good as new and it no longer bothers me. Add to that that their insurance gave me $7700 as a diminished value claim and I'm happy. I'm the kind of person that needs everything perfect, even cosmetically but I'm actually over it and happy now. There is hope!

So i posted this thread 2 years ago when i got hit... 2 years later yet again i got hit in a parking lot and didn't even notice till the next day seeing my car in the garage. PEOPLE SUCK SO MUCH!

I'm almost positive it was at my gym in the parking lot on Saturday. i confronted the manager who gave me a hard time saying she will not view the tapes unless the police issue her too!? what kind of shit is that?? i'm still so upset at the fact this person drove off without leaving any info but yet again that's the human race now a days.

Take a look at the pictures and tell me what you guys think!? i can't contact my insurance company cause there going to think something is shady if i said i got hit in a parking lot again and don't want my rates to go up.
