Can't seem to be able to remove the AC and radio knobs!

So I bought some (plastic) silver coloured and knurled knobs to replace the 4 black rubber ones but for the life of me I can't seem to get them off. I pulled hard on each one, even got my pliers out (used a microfiber cloth to protect the current knobs) and they still would not come out. I actually pulled so hard, I left a dent in one of the 4 knobs.

What am I missing?

PS: I really didn't want to spend $80 on the aluminium ones, these were $1.20 CDN/ea...

Not sure what to say, but the only way to remove the plastic knobs is to pull it out. You may very well end up denting them as the only way.

As far as I can tell, they're replacement radio knobs for old audiophile equipment.

They come out pretty damn hard. I cut a small section of heater core hose & slided it over the knobs then i used fat pliers & gently squeezed them as i pulled hard.

i bought a set of the stainless ones, the radio knobs came off easy, the heat/ac knobs took quite a bit of effort to get off. i did deform one of them a little bit but i dont ever plan on reusing them

The knobs take some effort to remove. I had to wrap the knobs so I don't damage them and then use pliers to pull.
