Remote start using factory key fob...NEW kit...

Im also in the market for remote start.. I got a brand new viper alarm with all the bells & whistles, I just need a good installer to install it...

Just for reference, I had Fortin EVO installed today on my 13FX50 for $200 including tax in MA suburbs. I got a lower quote of $180 but the installer had no experience with Fortin while the one I used did.
I hated carrying an extra fob when I had a Viper 2-way system in my 12FX35 so I like how Fortin allows use of Infiniti Key fob. And it came highly recommended by RIPnFX.

Fortin EVO-NIST1
Bought new on eBay for $99 about 2mo ago. I see there are some sellers offering less.

I have a question about one of those remote starts that you can use your smartphone to start the car (lock and unlock as well). They require a subscription plan because I guess it requires data usage. I have a T-mobile sim card that's data use only (for tablets and such) which I'm currently not using but still active. Is there a remote start unit that is able to accept the T-mobile sim card so I don't have pay for other services?

There's a module that can be added to extend the range (1mile i think), but it will have a separate fob, not sure if you can use that as well as the OE fob, might have to choose only one of the fobs (either OE or the non-OE) for remote starting.

So i got the fortin kit. My question to you guys is. Wich rf kit did you go with? Or wich one do you think its better if anyone tried one? I was leaning towards the Chrimestopper revo4 or or the fortin rf642w.

Never mind.

Edit: I have the EVO One with the remote app start so my answer was not relevant to the question.

got this done but Fortin Auto Radio here in montreal who are the creators of the Fortin Evo kits, ive been going there for 10 years for all my audio stuff so he gave me a hell of a deal to install the evo all kit with the flash tuner for 200+taxes CAD if not its 285+taxes CAD, if you want to get the app kit would be an extra 180$ CAD plus a second remote. i find our remotes get a good enough distance from where i always am anyways. just the downside would be that you can drive off without the key as the brake pedal doesnt turn the car off...

that sucks i have one that i purchase from ebay didn't install it yet did you try to drive away with out the carrying the key fob with you

I believe youd have to break the window & open the door from inside to drive off without the key. Wich is still scary.

Install LoJack along with a dash cam if you really are afraid of someone driving away with it

they don't need to break the window they have tools to easily get in your car and most of the time the only tool they need is a mini laptop and today there is a huge amount of cars are stolen that way when the honer leaves the car running or remote starts their car and leaves the car running

This should be brought to fortins attention and ask them to integrate some kind of module that could be added to the evo kit to kill the ignition if the key is not detected in the car once you depress the brake.

So you can't start the car without having the key 'inside' the car, but you can drive off without it once the vehicle has been started? This has got to be the biggest oversight of this system. You shouldn't be able to drive it for more than a few few feet. Basically Fortin is bypassing a security feature? I wonder if I can shut the engine off via the app (it's a feature) while the car is in drive.

I will definitely contact them on Monday and inquire. I too had my system installed by Fortin Auto Radio (the creators of the system) here in Montreal.

I gave them (Fortin) a call and asked about being to drive the vehicle away without the key inside the car. He did ask what car I had (FX) so I'm not sure if this applies to all Inifniti's with push button start or not, but mentioned that his notes/features indicate that the engine will turn off if the doors are not unlocked from the outside via the remote/door button. So if someone smashes a window to get in and opens the door from the inside, the engine will shut off.

tried and tested. this is true.
