Hello everyone. New to this forum as I am enjoying my recently purchased 2008 FX45 with tech package.

So I thought I would start a thread of all the suggested tools I might need to keep my baby running for the next 10 years. I do most of my own service since the internet, and helpful forum members seem to even give better advice than dealerships.

So I will start off with:
1) security torx T20 (for the MAF sensor)
2) 10mm socket

Thanking in advance, anyone who adds to this list. I anticipate oil changes, MAF cleanings, brake pad changes, and tune ups. So especially anyone who also identifies the repairs I will probably need to do the next few years. Btw, only 90,000 miles.

Wow, thank you and great replies. Anyone able to chime in with any sizes for doing the brakes and oil change? Lug nut size? And maybe common socket sizes throughout?

Those are 14 mm, 15 mm. Just have a set of metric socket from 10 mm - 22 mm should covers all basic maintenance needs.

Oh, an ODB II Scanner would be good to have around to scan for trouble code when the SEL comes. You can always go to a local auto part store for them to scan for code too.

You are a wealth of knowledge. I have an Actron scanner (well worth the money, time and time again) and couldn't problem solve without it. I also have an ELM327, but haven't tried it yet. The socket sets : I unfortunately buy clearance sets twice a year for the last 10 years (yes, that means 20 sets, ha ha) So more than set there. Just don't want to carry such heavy boxes to and from FoXy (nickname).

How about any Allen sizes generally used throughout?
