Has anybody ever used that Restore engine treatment in their FX? I put some in my fx45 and now it idles a bit rough and service light came on. Just wanted to see. My fx has 68000 miles. Should I have not done this?

Hopefully it'll just burn off..

Tried this on my dad's supra years ago... I forget, but certain seals had to be replaced.. Coincidence, maybe but I'd never use it again.

Not worth using if you don't have issues. For proactive care, consider something like BG MOA combined with BG 44K.

The restorative stuff works (if at all) by breaking down sludge. If that sludge is dislodged, who knows where it ends up, which can block some circulation. It's also pretty rough on seals, so I doubt that was a coincidence. If at all, I would add the stuff when the engine is warm, let it run for ~10 minutes, then drain the oil.

It is all marketing BS and as you can see tends to cause new problems it does more harm than any good!...just use seafoam if you have to otherwise the best preventive maintenance is regular oil changes using quality filter and synthetic oil and from time to time put some Lucas in your fuel to clean up the injectors.

Well the idle problem seemed to go away. But the cel is still there. Should I drain the oil and put in fresh oil and filter? I checked my oil level and color. They looked good. Car isnt running rough. No weird noises from the engine. Is there something I can use to clean that stuff out if I do decide to drain the oil?

Italian tune up .. Give it a good drive with some WOT and then do another oil/filter change.

Went to AutoZone and they read my codes. Codes that came up had something to do with transmission?? And another had to do with camshaft.

Where do you buy this?

Some auto parts stores carry it. I get BG stuff on eBay since the stores near me (store locator on their site) don't carry the products I want.

Ok the engine light came back on. Took it back to AutoZone and the codes were P0011 And P0021. Intake valve timing.
Bank 1 and Bank 2 crankshaft position sensor failure. Do you think it's just clogged? Bought some Motor Mechanic flush and drained the oil. Changed filter. Put in Rotella 5w40.

Your CEL's P0011 and POO21 are linked to sensors., Variable Timing solenoid, O2 sensors are some to name a few that throw that code on an OBD reader. You may want to pay a diagnostic fee to an Infiniti dealer /mechanic with an infiniti specific tool to see the exact codes:

With those codes the first thing that comes to mind is low oil level...
Have you checked the oil level? This may be the problem…did you have the codes before or after the oil change?
If before oil change, it could have been low on oil prior to oil change
If after just clear then the codes by disconnecting the negative battery for 10 minutes
I have also read to always use OEM parts like NGK plugs since this engine is known to be sensitive to any aftermarket parts. also, it seems that is very common for after market Cam Sensors to Cause P0011 or P0021 codes if the oil level is ok.

No low oil. These codes came up after I put in that engine Restore stuff in my oil. I drained the oil and replaced the filter too. Would any of those sensors get gunked up from that stuff possibly?

Those sensors just a piece on magnet inside the sealed plastic case. I highly doubts the Restore stuff did that.

It is possible the engine restore caused some of the issue. I swapped oil for a higher viscosity to combat some oil blow by and got the same codes. The thicker oils seem to effect the VVT / Cam solenoids. I change oil back after 100 miles or so and cleaned the solenoids out as well. The codes stayed for about 200-300 miles and many full cycles, but eventually went off. These engines are amazing, but are fairly sensitive to oil weight changes from what I've found.
