Hey forum, I was wondering what are the best winter tires based on YOUR usage I can buy? Just got my fx rwd and winter is coming.. Studded, studdless, siped? And how well does VDC work in the snow on RWD? Thanks!

I have the Hankook Ipike's and love them! Discount tire direct is the best source IMO, the price includes shipping and if you lean on them they will throw in the replacement warranty for free! Which by the way, I have used their replacement warranty on my other tires, you simply call them, they charge 20 bucks to add the warranty to the new tire and it sitting on your doorstep in a couple of days. No tire treat gauges or returning old tires is involved, a true replacement! Unlike Tire Rack! Which charges you for the new tire upfront with shipping, then you have to send the old one back and they determine whether or not they will pay based on tread depth etc. then they refund you back. A real PITA if you ask me! Good Luck!

I used to run Hankook Ipike too. They're great tires, no complaints whatsoever. This winter season, I will be running with Blizzak just because I got a set given to me. Thanks goes to Andrew (AeroBFA).

Blizzaks, I have a set of toyo open countries, and had I not gotten them for free with the 18's, I would be so utterly disappointed. Had the blizzaks on my previous vehicles and they are great...

Would just sipping the tires I have now help? Or is that not recommended?

No, the siping will help but you also need the different rubber compounds that they use in winter tires. You need both so they grip on ice and snow better.

Def recommend Blizzaks. got me through pretty hairy weather driving in snow/on ice while other cars pulled off to stop driving or spun out. (on my 2005 Fx35)

Is it worth getting the blizzaks studded? Thinking of just doing the rears, if it actually helps alot on blizzaks.. Don't like the road noise from them. .
