Window tints?

Im going to get my windows tinted this weeknd. Can you tell me your experiences with different tint films? Is there any to avoid? What is the best film for matching the factory tint on our back windows? Thanks
 
Make sure to use a brand name product like 3M or SunTek... It'll cost more to do it cheaply and then have to do it over than to do it right the first time.
 
if you dont have the money to do it right the first time... how you gonna have it when you have to fix the cheap job...
just saying...
 
Im never a type of guy that will just buy something because its cheaper. Most of the time you get for what you pay for. Thats why i was asking for a good brand of tint film and if there is any cheap ones to avoid. Thanks guys
 
I'm picky about tint, I HATE when they just lay the tint outside of the window, cut around, & then tranfer it to inside, which is how most guys install tint really. it works & it gets the job done, but to me, the only right way to tint these windows is to pop the windows out. it's not really hard, just pop the door panel off, then 2 10mm screws & slide the glass out.... now you can get a perfect tint job like that & have tint all the way to the edges & well below the belt molding... this is not about the quality of the tint, but the quality of the install... of course starting with good tint is always a good thing too:tongue:

John, that kind of installation would be awesome, but I'm afraid most places do not have enough knowledge of all the cars they get in their shop and will undoubtedly hack something up in the car while uninstalling the window and again probably reinstalling it. And if you want a shop that REALLY knows what they are doing with the installation as you mentioned then the price would probably skyrocket. It suks but a fact of life.
 
I went to a Formula 1 tint installer/distributor. They have the specs of the windows and a machine cuts the film to exactly the size of your car's window. You have a choice of ceramic tint too if you don't want to go with metallic base film. It's kind of pricey though but like everyone here says, You get what you pay for.
 
There used to be one in Santa Monica Blvd and Barrington. I can't find them anymore. But if you go to formulaone.com and go to find dealer, you should be able to see a local a shop near us. I see one in inglewood and in Van Nuys.
