WHICH IS FASTER FX50s OR CAYENNE S 2011 ??

The problem I have with the FX50 S is that it's still too slow for me. I want it faster; much faster. Also I don't like how the nav stuff is outdated compared to domestics, and I hate how it's lacking some things it should have like lane assist, auto fold mirrors, heated rear seats, climate control for the rear passengers, better/louder subs/audio, no squeeky brakes going in reverse, heating seats to warm faster, power lift gate, remote start. If I drove the Porsche for a few months, I'm sure I'd have a list of things i don't like or wish it had. The list of things I love is 100x longer than the things I dislike even to the simple things that make a huge difference like the Infiniti patented seat belt mechanism that doesn't latch and doesn't feel like you are wearing a seat belt unless the cars know you are about to hit something - one of my wife's fav features. If I had enough money for a butt ugly Porsche SUV (pun intended), I'd buy the FX50 S, go to a mod shop, give them a $60k check and say do all the above.

What's lane assist?

We already have lane departure warning and prevention.

I don't understand the need for a fast SUV/CUV anymore.... I'll admit, I kinda got into that myself... but, the more I think about it, next time I want a fast car, I'd buy something that did NOT weigh 4500+ lbs and be done with it.

^ What it boils down to is wanting everything....I think you understand this more as you get older unless you have money growing on trees. I loved my moded Mustang Cobra, but HATED that nobody would want to go with me anywhere because they were cramed and I couldn't fit a normal suitcase in the trunk AND, 1/4 inch of snow and I'm stuck and can't drive or after > 100k miles things started falling apart....literally. I also hated that it had no luxury features. That's why I was considering the 2012 jeep srt8, but gas milleage was still going to be killer and luxury is still not even close, nor is performance not geared towards straight aways. All we want is performance, space, luxury, and good gas millage, is that too much to ask for? lol

So you do understand it, you just don't want one anymore.
Personally, my FX ownership is the product of my priorites.
I NEED a vehicle that is reliable, can traverse any road conditions (AWD and decent ground clearance), and that can haul 4 people and 3 dogs at the same time. For me, there is no car out there that will cut it.
I WANT any vehicle I drive to be comfortable, and fast. Obviously if I were Ricky Bobby and going fast was my only priority, a C6 Corvette would probably inhabit my driveway. Things being as they are, a "fast CUV" suits me perfectly.

right, I get it... And there are faster CUV's out there, but they cost more and you guys think they're ugly... If Infiniti was to make the FX50S faster, it would most likely cost more (perhaps a LOT more), and thus placing it in a bracket that's NOT ideal to their marketing. Yes, there are those people that would still buy it (like you guys), but most likely NOT enough interest to make it worth their while. I'm sure they have a marketing dept that figures these things out.

In the perfect world, we would have it all... but it is what it is.

haha, I need mine to do carpool for the kids. Beats driving a mini van

Infiniti does understand because Nissan understands.

Let me explain....

YouTube - Baby - Nissan Commercial

Just sub the Maxima in this video for a FX. :)

i kinda support ken for what he said. for a 4500lbs cuv, i think VQ delivers enough hp and torque to get it going faster. of course i would love more hp on my FX but i have never felts as if it was underpowered.

so, by that rationale, BMWs are even better, cuz the service is free(?) :dontknow:

Maintenance free isn't worth it if your going to spend more time in the BMW service department, than more time at home. Just saying.....:confused.:

is that what you're sayin'? Well that wasn't my point, what I was "sayin'"... was...based on his rationale...

"When is Infiniti/Nissan take everything under the hood of a GT-R and drop it into a FX??"

I don’t know why infiniti hasn’t come out with a package like the AMG or something. That way the ones with good money can have the option to get something with a little more oomph!:wink (2):

When I was in the market for buyin an SUV I was first lookin at gettin a used Cayenne like an 06 turbo or a 08-09 GTS. At that time Porsche had just drop the 2011 Cayenne and I was truly sold on the Cayenne S hybrid which was a lill under 400hp wit it being a surcharged V6 with an electric motor output that had me sold dollar for dollar. The only thing that pushed me going with the FX was for one I have dealt with Infiniti so long with owning a G35 and 2nd, when I take long trips otta state I usually rent like an FX35. The new body FX was the icing on the cake and with the output of the 50, I just had to make that move and robo cop it. For the money I got the same range in power to weight as I would have gotten with the Porsche Cayenne S. Don’t get me wrong I luv the new look of the 2011 Cayenne, and still may get me Porsche later down the road in the future.

I honestly don't....I think it's ugly compared to FX50 S, especially the rear (my wife thinks so too) plus the problem to me is that the front only looks good on the ones that are well over $100k all the cheaper models look butt ugly - the back looks butt ugly no matter what price range, and I HATE the triangle shape of the steering wheel...yes that much. I also hate how the center console is just flat vertical....that's how a lot of GMC, chevy, etc trucks are....to me ergonomically unpleasant. The hand rests in the center are not even stitched like in the FX.

The problem I have with the FX50 S is that it's still too slow for me. I want it faster; much faster. FYI, Porsche have always had a flat center consoles forever, it wasn’t until the Porsche Panamera came out when they redesigned the whole center piece hence where the 2011 Cayenne focus point is now.
As far as the superfast SUV comes it.. if you really lookin for that much speed. FI your FX50.. but really how much faster do you wanna go in something that weights over 5000lbs?
