Going in tomorrow at the dealer to get an oil change and tire rotation and wondering is it necessary to get all the tire's balanced? I know people say to only balance them if there is some vibration, but mine isn't vibrating. I just thought it would be a good idea since they have 30K on them and have never been balanced.

It would be a total waste of your money, if there is no vibration now.

It might be time for you to get a 4 wheel alignment, with 30k on the car. I was going to get mine checked but then decided it would be a waste for me because I am going to drop the FX in the Spring and I will have to get the alignment done shortly after that.

Hey since you going to the dealer just buy the preffered service I think it's called you pay them 200 bucks and get unlimited oil changes for as long as you own the car and discounts to on the work you do there plus on parts

Oh okay I'll ask about that. I do have a question though. On another one of my cars that I take to a Nissan dealer, I needed a wheel alignment on that car. But my service advisor told me that sometimes wheel alignment's aren't really worth it if you don't have new tires. He said that a few minutes later you could drive off, hit a bad pot hole, and knock it right back out of alignment making it worthless to do and spending $100 on it. What makes me believe him is cause dealer's like making money with these kinds of service, but he was actually telling me not to pay for it.

So it makes me wonder.....

I don't think you drive like that, that guy does not make sense at all. His advice only pertains to people that drive like azzholes, jumping curbs, going through man-eating pot-holes etc. I would not want to be dealing with that guy at all.

Thanks for the info bro!

So I'll just have the 4 wheel alignment done then with the tire rotation.

To be honest you can tell a lot by keeping a check on how your tires are wearing. If they are wearing nice and even right across the tread then you have been running them at the right tire pressures and your alignment is usually pretty darn good. Also another indicator, besides abnormal tire wear is how your ride handles, if it it easy to steer and handle nicely then normally the alignment should be pretty good. If it starts to pull then an alignment is probably necessary.

Can you elaborate on this? And is it only a certain dealership that offers this?

Well check with your local Infiniti dealer. I'm thinking if one does all of them should when you go to your dealer ask about the preffered program pay them 200 unlimited oil changes for as long as you own your car and 10% discount on parts and repairs plus no appointment needed. That's basically it and if you want synthetic oil 30 extra.

So i have not balanced my tires at all other then when they installed my summer rims last year. I noticed that some of the weights that come stuck on the rims have fallen off. Does that make a difference? When i take it to get the wheels balanced do they put back those weights?

If your wheel was properly balanced to start with and you lose wheel weights then that wheel is no longer in proper balance. The spin or dynamic wheel balance machine will spin the wheel assembly and determine, by means of a computer, where the weights are needed on that wheel. All wheel assemblies will require weight in different locations on the wheel to compensate for irregularities in the manufacturing of both that particular rim and tire. Most rims and tires are not perfect when there manufactured.
