-What is your price range?
-Where is the sub going? spare tire well, or box.
-box going to be ported or sealed?
-Is space a premium? Sealed and shallow mount would be way to go.
-What amp and how much RMS power are you running to it?

That blaupunkt box is 1.36cu, it is pretty big for one 12" sealed sub. You need to find a sub that plays well in that space. I have 2 10" subs in a box built to Infinity's specs, and only uses 1cu total. And these are big 10" subs.

Is the amp the 1500 or the 400?
1500 will do 650wtts bridged into 4Ohms.

to get the most from that amp you need to wire as follows:

Option 2 (series) = 4 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 4, 2, or 1 ohm mono

So now you need to find a sub that has Dual voice coils at 2Ohms. For that airspace(1.36cu) and that power...I would try and find an Alpine Type R. They hit hard and you can abuse the heck out of them and they keep playing.

Just trying to help you get the most out of your system buddy.

100x2 rms 250w rms at 4ohm bridged

looking for a sub $100 or less-not trying to win spl contests :)
any experience with infinity subs? 1.25 cu ft box recommended

Let's try to keep these questions in the same thread...

it has about 1.37 cub ft that sub works best with 1.25 is that close enough?

The manufacturer of that driver states the requisite volume for a sealed enclosure as 1.25cu ft. That is at the most, a .05cu ft tolerance. If the volume of your box was within .05cu ft of the drivers recommended enclosure volume, I'd say it was "close enough". Considering you are exceeding the stated tolerance by about 250%, it's probably not going to be functioning as designed in the Blaupunkt box. Obviously it will still work, and you will still hear bass for sure, but if you were to actually measure the frequency response of your setup it would not live up to the manufacturer's performance claims. How much different it will sound, and whether you will be able to detect the difference is anyone's guess. As you said, you aren't going to be entering any SPL contests so it may not matter.

If I was in your spot right now I would return the Blaupunkt box (you could probably even sell it for your $25 investment), find a woofer, (much more boom for your +/-$100 in the used market) and then choose your box accordingly. You'll have a much easier time finding a 1.25cu ft enclosure than a woofer designed for 1.37cu ft...

^ Agree 100%.

But If you want to keep the Blaupunkt box....you can add a couple small pieces of wood inside the box....there-by lowering the cuft to within spec.

1.25 and 1.37 do not seem like 250% different sizes. I am pretty decent at math
1 is .12 cubic feet more
.12 about 9% of 1.25 so it seems im adding 9% more aire space. Would porting the box help if it is recommended for a bigger ported than sealed?

I like the idea of making the inside smaller rather than selling the box. I like the way it looks and the cost.

i posted the items i bought in the new toy thread-it did fit in that thread-these are my new toys

The Infinity sub requires 2cft of air space for ported applications....you dont have it unless you get another box. Porting the Blaupunkt box wouldn't work either. It's just too small to be used in a ported applictaion. Ported boxes are built to be ported. As in, they are usually tuned with the proper length of tube and proper diameter of tube to hit the correct frequencies. Unless you get a really cheap box that are built to just have a port, with no care as to sound.

Usually when purchasing as sub, they will give you the dimensions for the ported box....in this case (Infinity sub) it requires 2cft. This sub requires a port length of 10" and a 4" diameter. In the manual, it will generally tell you to have certain size port and at what length to use to get the best sound.

If you like the box, just add some wood inside to make the air space smaller. Either use wood glue or screws....or both.

Now that I think about it more, we fogot one important value to take into account. SUB DISPLACEMENT. Since we have a box with 1.37 cu, the sub will displace generally around .2-.3 or airspace by itself..you can call Infinity and they will give you the actual sub displacement value. They have really friendly customer service and gave me answers right away. So you will fall into spec without adding wood inside the box. The Infinity sub will work fine....

Good luck and show us pictures when everything comes together. I have 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect's, LOVE THEM..they are SQ subs, not SPL subs. Quality over substance.

sweet. even better. I dont have a lot of box knowledge at all ( i built one for 4 kicker 15" subs a long time ago 10 years ago). sub displacement? No clue on that either. Thanks for your help.

I said you are exceeding the tolerance by 250%. The difference between 1.25 and 1.37 is .12, which is "about" 250% of .05.

I agree that the pics fit in the "new toy" thread, but then you asked the same question there that you asked here; Whether the Infinity sub will work with that box. No big deal, just trying to stay organized...

Toy4x is right about the driver displacement. You're probably fine.

i actually posted just the picture. And somebody told me to make sure the sub i wanted would work with that box-then i asked him the question he brought up. i guess next time i will refer them to my subwoofer thread :)

ah screw it go with the orion hcca 12.2 lol or even 15.2

Well if he wanted to get crazy I would have told him to get the RE XXX, Fi and have them custom made to his order, DD, or Stereo Integrity. He's obviously on a budget....not making an SPL show car.

Im waiting for the Stereo Integrity BM mkIV..12" sub...3.4" mounting depth, and only needing .5ft^3!!! Going to replace my space tire. Going to be able to keep all of my trunk space, with no false floor.

hope its ok to add the same "what do you think" question here instead of another thread. im looking at this to add sub/amp to stock:

11PT8_BeautyGallery.jpg

kicker bassstation 11ph12 (12" sub, 100w amp, all in one compact enclosure)$350 or its 11pt10 10" equivalent $250.

i just need bass for rock/metal and learned that sealed will be the one i need. also, id like to avoid big boxes and that explains my choice for shallow mount subs. last, i tend to load cargo at times and fold seats. i can also go for a separate enclosed sub and d class amp for a little less. thanks in advanced.

I like that. simple clean a breeze to install/remove when necessary

I went with the infinity sub but have not gotten the wiring for amp hooked up yet

good luck with yours as well. let us know how it turns out

the powered sub is finally available locally. though kicker confirmed with this 100w system there should be great improvement over current sub, im still thinking if i should go similar unpowered 300w sub and matching amp. ill definitely post update when i get mine done.
