Looking for your tips on keeping my black FX50S' paint looking showroom new...

Any products, methods, do's and dont's, etc. would be appreciated.

Umm don't take it to automated car washes or anything like that. Wash it by hand only and use the two bucket method meaning one suds bucket, and one plain water bucket to dip your washing mitt in. This prevents swirling the paint up and not dragging dirt across the paint thus inducing swirls more. I suggest using high quality sheepskin wash mitts. Also use a car wash soap with great lubing.

Oh and if you don't want rock chips all over your bumper I suggest getting a 3M VentureShield clear bra.

get it detailed once a month and keep a coat of wax on it...and no auto washes

Great topic. 10FX50S, looks like we just bought the same car. I'm having ventureshield installed on my black FX50 today (front bumper, 1/2 hood, mirrors, door cups, rear deck), and Nanoskin wax/sealant on the rest of the car. The Nanoskin is suppose to last 1 year without re-waxing/polishing. I'm hoping this will help keep the car as clean as possible. I will of course hand-wash my car using the 2-bucket method as well. I'll try to post some pics this week when I pick up my FX, and see how well it holds up.
Any other suggestions on keeping the black FX's sharp?

The Ventureshield installer/detailer just called to tell me that they will need another half day for the install. Apparently, due to the "bulbous" front end of the FX, he wants to makes sure the clear bra cures properly..

My dad has a black 2010 genisis and it looks brand new, he uses the 2 bucket mode, one to apply the soap the other to rinse the mit after wiping the vehicle down. Liqiud Glass wax, its old school but mint, the more coats you apply the better it gets, I put it on my grey FX anddid 2 coats, looks nuts.

A good polish, wax and sealer will always do the job. There are a lot of detailing threads here on IS. So your in the right place...what product you use is personal preference. I've used zaino to Griot's garage products, so it's just what works best for you.

I use a foamer, which has helped a LOT! Even better is how much less work it takes to wash your car. Lazy=Good :wink (2):

if you barely have time to clean like me, i use freedom waterless wash as long as it is not very dirty, or optimum no rinse if more cleaning is needed. about every 2 days, i use cali duster very lightly, and about once or twice a year i use klasse (acrylic based) which gives a great shine esp for black vehicles. more info on my thread under detailing so i dont have to post the same info again.
