Wet Seats

The NW is bipolar. One day it's hella hot, the next - rainstorms. Anyways, left my sunroof retracted for the night (completely forgot to close the thing). Next morning, I was pleasantly surprised by a soaked interior. The cupholder had about 1.5 inches of water. The front seats probably soaked in just as much. No electronics were affected. Yesterday, I let the car run for about 4 hours with high heat and seat warmers. However, I can still feel the moisture getting absorbed by a towel when i sit on it for a drive.

Any advice on this? Or should I just take the seats apart completely and dry the foam (is this even possible?).
 
I would say just leave it in the sun and heat for a while. Disassembling the seats is possible, but not worth it at all. You'd have to pull each individual circlip that holds the leather on and then reinstall and properly stretch everything. I've replaced seat covers on other cars, it's tedious.
 
I think the best way would be to pull the seats and carpet out. You might be able to short cut some of that by running industrial fans on the inside for a long time. (like 24 hours straight or more)
The risk is smelly mildew and more damage.
 
With that much water, it is probably the best course of action.

On the bright side it gives you a golden opportunity to clean all the nooks ad crannies of your car.
 
carpet and seats need to come off, that water is under your carpet already and like everyone else mold is going to form plus the smell of mildew

So you are saying that even though my carpet has been dried from the intense heat (car running for hours at 90 degrees), there might still be water in the nooks? I am taking the seats apart, but didn't really want to rip the carpet out.

damn, i guess i forgot about the insulating material under the carpet.... i guess the carpet goes too....
 
Yeah, the foam pads under the carpet will soak up water. Everyone is right, the seats out and lift the carpet. But I was referring to actually disassembling the seat itself. That is a step too far.
