Went to the dragstrip!

Only got 3 runs and it started raining :(

First and best one, forgot to turn VDC off, sport auto mode, bad start, 14.1@98

Second and worst one, VDC and IBA off, Manual mode, she hated the brake/gas combo and cut throttle and pulled on the seatbelt at launch! then in manual the paddle delay caused her to touch the rev limiter (7100 with uprev), 14.9@92

Third, VDC off, IBA on, Manual mode, best launch with tiny tire shirp at launch but still touched the limiter once! 14.3@94

Now that I was getting the hang of it it started raining! so until next time!

Any tips? Polish my manual shifting technique or leave it auto? Best launch technique?

Tip...?
Improve reaction time (not that I'm saying it's bad now). There are electronic devices and cell phone apps that simply run the Christmas Tree timing and get the timing programmed in your brain to launch. Practice watching the lights, launching, and always improving consistent reaction time.

It's a 2009 FX50

I'm running 1" taller tires that may impact acceleration.

I'm concerned about the sudden throttle loss to idle and seatbelt pulling when trying to do a brake/gas launch, possibly a safety mechanism. Any way of improving launch? Thanks

To launch.
Depress brake pedal
Put car in neutral
While foot on brake pedal, depress the gas pedal
*this causes the brake pedal to go even lower*
Foot still on brake pedal, release gas pedal
Put car in Drive
Rev to 1.5K to 2K
Release brake pedal when ready, while further stomping the gas pedal
Launch.

For an even better launch than that, it's best to rev from idle and as soon it hits (instead of waiting) 1.5K to 2K, you release the brake pedal and further stomp the gas pedal.

Ignore the launch tips above. The FX50 runs best when you just slam on the gas from a dead idle in DS (automatic) mode.
I have tried launching, manual mode, auto mode, a combo of both, etc. My best consistent times were when I just put it in DS and slammed the throttle.

Reaction time doesn't change the actual time at most tracks.

My 1/4 was 13.6 @ 102 btw
(with test pipes, K&N filters, custom muffler, Old Uprev tune at 367awhp/348 awtq - all my power was top end, got it retuned since, now it's 361/351 with better curve)

Anyone have any thoughts how to eliminate the delay at launch? Seems like most of the time the car sits there when I stomp on it from a light.

12 fx50s, bone stock.

About to look into something for the exhaust. Maybe just pull the muffler, weight loss and flow, and some sound.

JB, didnt you start there?
