2014 QX70S 5.0. the weather forecast feature didn't work when I bought it about 8 months ago. Called dealership and asked about how to activate weather forecast feature they said manufacturer didn't support it anymore and that's that.
This weekend while driving I get a high wind weather alert and I went to the weather forecast and it's active! Anyone is experiencing this?

I think the weather is linked to the sirus XM radio... Once in awhile i guess when XM is running promos they'll give me the traffic and weather for a week but then will go away after a short period of time.

It's only happened twice ever since i had my FX.
 
Ive had my 15QX70 for a year now and never tried the forcast feature (but I have Sirius-XM) and this weekend was the first time I had the High wind warnings message as well. I just had my vehicle serviced at the dealership, so I thought they updated it, but there was no mention of it in the paperwork.

That might be the case, but I had a sirius xm trial before and they would not activate the weather forecast for me during the trial saying that its no longer supported by the manufacturer. Thats why I was pleasantly surprised that Its working because I have not been able to use it since I got the car. I might reach out to Sirius Xm and see what it would cost to get thing activated on a longer term basis; I think its pretty useful.

What year is your car? do you currently have XM radio active with them?
 
I have the Sirius trial and had the weather alerts for 2 or 3 weeks. The last 2 days they were high gale force winds...hilarious since I don't have the 007 amphibious package! :rofl:
 
I have the weather activated in my car too, no XM radio trial so very weird.
I have a 2011 FX50S
 
Thanks for everyone that responded. I called XM and talked to 2 different people at 2 different times they both mentioned that this feature is NOT active for my car and were surprised that it's working!
Let's see how long this lasts
 
The weather alerts (and map) worked for me during my Sirius trial period, and now I only get alerts very infrequently. Could it have been a test of some type? I got the same “gale wind” warning others have mentioned. However I do have a 3.7L and not the 5.0L.
 
It stop yesterday telling me I need XM subscription. It was kinda cool to have but not a must have.
 
YES!!! I have a 2011 FX35, I had this happen last weekend too, out of no where for a day or two, sporadic high wind warnings. But here's an added element for your theories and XM this and that. I'm in Canada, the weather function in the system and the weather map doesn't register Canada, I can't even select my Province from the list as it only contains states. So stands to reason, "high wind warnings 45 kms from your location", what location? The weather part of the system won't let me select anything in Canada which is more odd because the navigation part is obviously all canadian.
