I use a carputer and have no issue with driving while watching disabled. I picked up a friend from the airport and she watched Kung Pow on the way home.

I also could see a use for it. I'd watch it while driving through Ohio and Indiana on my 14-16 hour trips. If I was getting tired, it would exacerbate the situation, so I'd only do it if I was bored and wide awake.

There's been countless times where I've done something in my car (like panic and look for something I thought I forgot at home) and then look back at the road not sure what to expect cuz I feel like my eyes were away from the road for too long.

I have caused 1 accident in my life, a fender bender rear-end when I was 16 because I was shuffling through some CD's trying to find a new one to throw in. I've been driving for almost 8 years now and that accident was almost 8 years ago. I feel like watching something that's in the vicinity of the road ahead is by no means "safe," but at the same time I can't find it dangerous if the person isn't glued to it. The stretches of highway in Indiana allow you to see about 5 minutes of driving ahead of you (although I wouldn't spend more than 3-5 SECONDS at a time watching a movie).

The list is long:
I've rear ended (minor scratches) twice while trying to kiss my gf
I've spun with my 3.18ti in front of the University President's office.
I've spun in the rain with my RSX, bent the rear wheels and suspension
And the one I can't get out of my mind: A kid jumped on the road in front of me in Turkey, supposedly stealing some Cheetos from the newspaper booth on the other side of the road. The road had plants in the center parts so I didn't see them coming. There were three kids, I managed to save two, the last one hit my fender. :frown: He only suffered a broken leg fortunately.

No major accidents after that except the RSX one and that was not my fault. Spun at a wide turn at 30 mph. Hit a puddle and lost control I think. But that kid.. I feel like crying every time I remember the view of him lying on the road.

As for the topic: I'll install my NavTV soon but it's only and ONLY for the passengers to watch something on a long trip and nothing else. There's enough distractions and occasions on the road. You need to remember that if you cause a minor rear-end, it might be ok but you can also hit somebody. Driver needs to watch the road and nothing else.

I'm Ege and I approve this message :smile:

I glance @ my Nav/TV once in awhile. I'm not gonna lie (not saying you are, EG3) and say I dont watch it but I dont stare @ it as if I was watching TV @ home. Its mostly for wifey coz she enjoys watching and playing her Ms. Pacman when were on road trips.

Guys,

Just wanted to apologize to everyone for lowering the standard on here yesterday. I didn't appreciate that guy personally insulting me for no good reason, and I let him have it. I guess he caught me on a bad day. Anyways, that is still no excuse for my outburst. Sorry everybody.
