Does anyone else have issues with their V1 giving false laser alerts when you get close to another vehicle? Mine does it alot and its pretty annoying.

I found this thread on V1's site but I dont want to disable my laser reception as I've picked up a few real ones:

Here's teh gist of the link:

Why am I getting laser alarms when I follow some cars?

Red neon is occasionally used for the CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Lamp) on new cars. We know of these models: GM Trailblazer and Envoy, the Lincoln Mk VIII and the latest BMW 3-series convertible.

These lights use a neon-plasma light source. The red lens allows red visible light to pass, and also invisible energy near infrared. The source is powered by a pulsating voltage on a frequency that happens to be similar to the repetition rate of legitimate laser-gun pulse trains. In other words, the CHMSLs have an invisible energy leakage that’s nearly identical to the beam used by traffic laser. If we suppress the interference, we’re likely to damage laser sensitivity.

Another source of alarms: a few new cars have cruise controls that use laser to measure distance to the car ahead. This feature is available on the Lexus LS430, Infiniti FX35 and FX45. This, of course, is real laser, not a false alarm.

If you’re really bothered by these alarms, you can reprogram V1 to disable its laser reception. It’s a DIY project. Here’s a link to the instructions on our website: Tech Report #3

I suspect that its the cruise control system in the FX that's causing the false signals. How can I disable to cruise laser distancing system since I never use it?

Your ICC module gives off a signal even without cruise control being on since it uses the signals for the brake assist. You could also disconnect the module or tape over the front to block it.

Keep in mind that you will still get false readings occasionally from other vehicles that also use laser signals.

Yes, thanks for that. More annoying is it going off when I'm 2-3 ft behind a car, any car. Worse ones are white cars or ones with chrome bumpers.

Keep in mind that you will still get false readings occasionally from other vehicles that also use laser signals.

I think I've only ever gotten 3-4 laser alerts and 1 was real. I was following my friend is his Z once, and apparently I was setting off his V1. He had it mounted towards the rear hatch though I think so it must have had an open view.
