Using SAT line as AUX input?

I've been running my ipod using a tape adapter for eons, but was wondering if it was possible to run an aux input line from the head unit (maybe via the satellite input--don't have satellite radio) to the armrest.

I know you can buy the USA Spec PA15-NIS input, but I'm fine controlling my ipod directly, so don't really want to buy it if there is another way. Ideally, I'd like to be able to push the SAT button and switch to the aux input to play the ipod. Does anyone have any pics/diagrams or other specifics on how to wire this up? I'm fine with soldering stuff as well, if it comes down to splicing into some wires.

I have the service manual for my car, but trying to read the schematics have turned my brain into soup... :eeerr:

This is for a 2004 FX35 with navigation, no satellite radio.

this is how I ave mine setup with the harmon kardon Ipod interface....I used a PAC module to hook it up to the auxiliary port so when I press "SAT" it goes to my ipod.
