USB Port

I just purchased a 2010 EX35 Journey RWD and had questions on the USB port. A lot of cars have these ports but none of the salespeople could discuss their full capabilities other than it being an iPod connection. I don't have an iPod. I was getting excited envisioning hooking up a 120gig external hard-drive with all my music. How awesome would that be. But it didn't work.

Could anyone offer their experiences using the USB port with music? I have done some googling and there is no info out there. The manual says a USB-Infiniti compatible device, but that is about all.

Other than for iPods, what does it work with? Any tips I have to keep in mind? File system (FAT or FAT16 or FAT32)? Types of drives - thumb drives or USB media card drives or external hard drives?

Thanks in advance for your input!

you can use a USB thumb drive to play music or video files. You need to push the DISC-AUX button repeatedly until the display shows USB. My 2010 manual give a pretty good description on pages 4-71 - 4-74.

Yeah, you can use a USB/Flash Drive, most have decent space too like 32 gigs or higher if your looking to put a lot of things on it and its smaller than an external hdd. I wasn't aware of it playing videos? Wonder what file formats are supported? If an external hdd were to work, I would imagine would need to connect it to a power source to power it up, other than that I believe even clean hdd with music in it would work?

I have used a 32GB SDHC card and it works fine.

I use this 1GB drive though.
