Track day Dec 21 @ Willow Springs (Big Willow)

Hi everyone! There’s another track day coming up on Dec 21. This one’s also hosted by Extremespeedtrackevents and is at Willow Springs (Big Willow). Here’s the info if you need it:

Special track day price of only $105 for the whole day on track.

Register at Extreme Speed Track Event's website (just Google it)
Must register before Dec 20th for the discount

Beginners are welcome. Free Basic on track instruction for beginners. All driver levels welcome. Extremespeed will be running special private run groups for beginners who want to get familiar with on track essentials and car control at highway speeds.
Free timing for all drivers

I cant make it, but agree. That is a good price. What I dont like is the 90 Driver 'capacity' for event. Sure, they'll be split into a couple of groups, but I'm used to tracking with no more than 12 guys at a time max. & these are guys I know!
This track is too fast, & there are way too many faster cars & novices to feel comfy in an FX. I'd rather pay triple that for peace of mind, just my opinion.

That does look fast. I've never tracked before so that does concern me a bit. What were you hitting on the straights?
 
It's a great track. Very fast. I see 115 on straight, top of 3rd & few moments into 4th. Corner speeds of 90/85 through turns 8 & 9, averaging 80+ on circuit. You need full focus at those speeds. there's risk when you have to get off line to let guys by. & they do come. Sometimes racing each other. The likes of M3s, porsches, Vettes & even race prepped vipers. They can see 130+ on the straight. I like to run with people I'm familiar with & trust. Shit happens out on the track. I even went offroad last time at 85, completely my fault that time. The FX is great, especially with suspension mods, but it is no match for the high horsepower cars on the long straights. But I have seen pros tear it up in front drive rental 4 bangers, but most are are not at that level.

all that said, there's no reason you couldnt try it. For that price, it's worth to go and tool around a bit. I'm sure they will have some slower sessions that will allow you to safely play out there. It is a big safe track with various turns that can take many visits to learn perfectly. Matter of fact, the better you get at it, the scarier it gets. Pushing the limit of car & nerves. There's some banking in most turns, & your car will seem to defy physics as it rotates into those corners. I'm scheduled to go again in Feb. & March.
If you survive the day without incident, & the car holds up all day, . . there's no better place to push the limits of your FX than at Big Willow Springs. Chassis & balance is really good. Only wish for lower ride height (BCs) & stickier tires. Stock brakes will do just fine as you take your momentum lines through turns. Feels just like connecting dots.

Thanks for your detailed input! My car is decently set up with the Akebono brakes up front, H&R lowering springs, and most of the GT spec braces. I've been wanting to push my car a bit more to see what it's capable of, but just don't feel comfortable doing it on public roads. Anyway, I think I will give it a go to see how it is! Thanks again, and maybe I'll see you some time on the track!
