Toyo Proxies STII or Yokohama Prada Spec-X ???

Guys,
My wife is driving the FX now two- three days a week, the current Nitto 420's are too hard and loud. Has anyone had good / bad experiences with "Toyo Proxies STII or Yokohama Prada Spec-X" ? Would love to hear from anyone with 20-22 inch wheel sizes. How are your tires after 10-15k?

Thanks in advance

I now have 30,000 miles on my 20" Paradas and there still is a bit of tread left. I will buy them again.

PArada spec-x, can't advocate them enough. 2 sets on my old FX, 1 set on my GTR wheels. great tires.

I've used both tires. I'm on my 2nd set of Yokos parada already. Love them. Quiet, great wet and dry handling and even used it in snow in NY.

As for the Proxes, stay away from them. It's good on dry road but dangerous on wet roads. They tend to lose traction on wet roads and does hydroplane. Not to mention they are noisy. Will never buy these garbage tires again.

You must be talking about the first proxes, the STII's were great IMO, I had both. Original proxes were junk, noisy, this is why TOYO made the 2's. Handled fine on wet and dry for me.

On the other hand, I have heard nothing but positive reviews about the parada's, so they get my vote.

Parada's I'll have mine on this weekend.

Currently have the ST 2 for about 30k miles and still have half the tread. Been all over the country with them through sunshine and heavy rains and no complaints. The originals had the wet traction problem, the 2nd do not.

I have the Proxes as OEM shoes on my 2013 Pathfinder Platinum. I imagined they must be the latest since I bought my truck late last year. I-10 can really be very scary on heavy rains especially the elevated roads. I almost lost control when the vehicle skids during heavy rains. I'd never take out the vehicle again when it rains hard and use my FX instead.

I'd check tomorrow which model type I had on the truck.

I have 285/35 just cuz I like the lower profile plus I'm going to drop it lower on BC's like you.

I have no complaints but I was coming from the crappy stock Bridgestones so the ride is way better. Anything is better than those nitto's you have. Everyone that has had those tires has nothing good to say about them. All bad reviews

If you're running 22"s, get 35's. 40 is a lot of tire on a 22" wheel and there isn't a significant difference in ride quality between 35 and 40. Either way there is a lot of sidewall. Running a 40 series almost defeats the purpose of running coil overs. You drop it lower than springs allow, then raise it back up with a bigger tire. And if you're already on coilovers, the 35 series tire isn't going to introduce a rougher ride, you're already there. If you were on stock suspension, you might notice a difference. But if you're used to the firm ride on coilovers, it won't change much if at all. I've tried various tire sizes and heights while on coilovers and none of them made significant difference.

Great insight! I think I will go with the 35!

My FX will need new shoes soon. I have read reviews on Tire Rack and Discount Tire that the Yokohama Parada Spec X has somewhat short tread life, about 30,000 miles, and sometimes go out of balance. How do you feel about the Yoko YK580 (60k warranty) or Nitto 421Q (75k warranty)?

Toyo Proxes STII for me and no complaints. Survived track day and everything just fine. But honestly, you cannot go wrong with either choice...

Not sure about the Nittos. Can only guess based off my experience with the 420's that they will be hard and loud. My wife's MDX has the YK580's. Very quite and seems like they will last, will buy again.
