hm personally i dont see it being promissing for 4 boards since it slides out and the bindings may hit the roof rails. best bet is to test try it

My setup for winter:

I actually took this picture just this weekend. That is 4 snowboards plus a set of skis. Drove the car round trip from vancouver to whistler like this (about 3 hours).

Here is what it looks like without boards:

The full setup is a set of OEM cross bars, and a set of Yakima FatCat 6 racks. Obviously I am using the tilt feature on one side. I am lucky cause one of my friends has a set of low-back bindings so as long as his board goes on the very right flipped upside down, I have no problems with anything touching my roof.

The only reason I see aftermarket cross bars as a good option is because of the load restriction on the OEM ones, but even then you are treading a very fine line because the factory rails are not designed to hold more than 100lbs.

Now of course I regularly throw caution into the wind and I loaded up my car with two Yakima Highroller bike racks, and 2 - 40+lb DH bikes (probably about 150lbs total) and I had no problems, but be warned you are definitely exceeding the limitations of the OEM setup doing stuff like this.

THat is one reason why i went aftermarket cross bars. i had the fatcat 6 and i didnt have to use the tilt function to put 4 boards.

these are my setups up top over the years

I kinda like the tilt, looks funky.

I thought people would think it is retarded and not understand why it is like that, but people have told me it looks cool, and I much prefer the OEM cross bars to anything else as they maintain the clean lines with nothing else on the car.

Then again aftermarket bars are usually easier to remove completely. It really is a toss up, both systems have their pros and cons. It really comes down to each persons desires and list of needs.

EDIT:

The other thing about your setup that is much more optimal is the space, I would never be able to get the fatcats and a box on my roof. So you have a lot more versatility.

i agree it looked funky but i found it annoying after a while like when you load up the boards they slide down, wind noise, and most of all, when wind blows from the passenger side, it feels like it will throw the car off its lane

damn that fatcat6 looks good, looks slick compared to this one I have. But I got a good deal on it so I can't complain.

The clips aren't centered on this attachment and I am not sure I can change that. But I am not rocking this for looks either so it doesn't bother me.

And as you can see from this pic there is room for the bindings to fit. They just have to be folded right. I just did this for a test fit with 2 of my boards in the garage so excuse the crap pics
