Top Gear USA Thread

The History Channel has released two new Top Gear USA trailers yesterday and announced the debut of the show. The producers have announced that Top Gear USA will go on air on the History Channel on Sunday, November 21st, 2010. The presenters of Top Gear USA will be Adam Ferrara, Tanner Foust and Rutledge Wood. Up until this point, there has been no official confirmation that there will be a United States version of the Stig. However, various rumors have surfaced lately saying that Rubens Barrichello might play the Stig in the USA version of Top Gear. We believe this to be highly unlikely, but we've been wrong before.

I don't like the fact that they have a pro on-board (Foust). IMO, a large part of the BBC version's appeal is that the hosts are (somewhat) normal dudes who love cars. I'll totally watch it but I don't think it will be as good as the original. I also love the British accents and expressions on the OG Top Gear.

Things you won't hear on the US Top Gear:

"Sod off!"
"Nor to 60"
"BMW Zed 4"
"Spacious boot"
"Lets have a look under the bonnet"
"THIIIIIISSSS IIIIIISSSS ASTONISHING!!!!"

One I thing I noticed that I don't remember from UK version was that the in car footage seemed very shaky for some reason. Where as the UK guys were always crystal clear, these guys looked like they were on a washing machine.

I noticed that as well. Especially strange because I heard one of the hosts interviewed on the radio last week and he said the US version has the same production company that the UK show employs. He said for that reason that viewers can expect the same "stunning photography" or something. The cinematography definitely looked similar to me but not as good as the UK series. I also found Tanner a little cocky and very minimally entertaining as a character, though it is fun to watch him drive. Whatever, I'll keep watching. Maybe he'll grow on me...

I just watched it last night, and I do have to admit I am quite disappointed. The UK version is so much better, and the hosts (James, Richard and Jeremy) give it character, unlike the guys in the US version.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see......

I can't stand the us version. It actually irritates me to watch it. I love the original top gear with Jeremy and all them. I laugh so hard every episode and it's just fun and entertaining to watch. Boo US top gear! lol

The chopper scene was completely boring to me, and I noticed the camera shaking the most during that clip. But I think it did get better forwards the end. I'd probably watch it again. Yeah, it's not as good as the UK version, but whatever. Lol.

The only guy I can't really stand though is Ferrara. And I'm not totally convinced Tanner's cockyness isnt scripted.

in promoting the show, they had these cars in yellow, giving free rides in NYC (I don't know if they actually painted them or wrapped them... I think they actually painted them :eek.:)

how can anyone complain about a car show when tv programming is full of unworthy nonsense. Without comparing to other Top Gears, It a show with dudes ragging on cars. That's WIN in my book.

Imagine the new 370Z having a Lamborghini badge on the hood. It would be received a bit differently...
