tip for nismo exhuast on 05 fx35 AWD

hi all pros,

i'm trying to put a nismo exhaust and mid-pipe on my 05 fx35 awd. i know that they have to be customized in order to fit on the fx. can any fx pros out there give me some details please? like can i still use my oem y-pipe even tho it's 2"5, nismo is 3"? if not, and i end up need another y-pipe for my awd, where i can find one? also, if there is any recommendation for muffler shop around sf bay area? btw if anyone has a clip of nismo on fx35, please throw it to me. also, if there is any details, please let me know!! thanks for all you pros advices!!!

All your question have probably been answered in previous posts on this topic. If you type nismo exhaust in the search box I'm sure you will get a many many threads on this mod.

But to simply answer your question, you can still use your y-pipe with the nismo exaust but you will need to extend the mid-pipe with the G35 extension piece or modify the y-pipe for the necessary added length, in addition to extending the tips. There are members that have done it both ways. your best bet for the extension for the nismo exhaust is motordyne. they make the G35 extension you need. nismoshop has it to, but they might not have it available right away.I got mine through motordyne and had it within a week.

DR, do you think its a better idea to get the nismo y-pipe as well? if so, is it gonna fit my AWD too? if i end up put the kakumei y-pipe on, i don't need the g-extension then, but i still have to cut and extension the tips anyway, is that correct?

The nismo y-pipe will not fit the awd fx due to the transfer case, but it can be modded to fit by extending the y-pipe and in doing so you can also eliminate the need for the g35 extension piece, but you will still need to extend the tips. All this can be done and measured at your local exhaust shop. Take a look at trainerKen's ride/post as this is the way he did it.

If you get the kakumei y-pipe you will still need the g35 extension piece and also extend the tips.
 
If you are looking for video clips of a nismo exhaust on a fx35 look it up on youtube. There should be plenty of videos of JBaker1121's FX35 with the nismo exhaust and other mods to give you an idea of what it sounds like.
