My inifiniti fx35 slipped when I was driving on upward highway, even the VDC OFF Lights were turned on in my dashboard !
Is it normal to slip if I do accelerate a bit on wet road with "VDC OFF" on ?

VDC off means you will have LESS traction.... it stands for vehicle dynamic control..VDC is traction control that senses vehicle direction and uses brake, throttle and engine management to help maintain stability. When the wheels are spinning without traction or the vehicle is not going in the direction it is being steered, the VDC system kicks in. So, if you have it off in slippery conditions, you are going to slip if you accelerate too rapidly, especially if you are RWD. if you are AWD you really hve to gun it to slip if it is just wet...

I turn VDC off to drift in the snow.
However, I live the control you have with it off rather than the engine cutting throttle when it feels slip, I like being in control. the AWD helps too ;)

hope that helps.

On a uphill if you blip the throttle to get it going at a moderate pace the rear will break lose. It takes more power to get a car moving when its pointed uphill. Normally this is fine but when the road is wet, a RWD car will easilly break traction. Especially if you have VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) off. Like others said, VDC is basically traction control. If you want less slip, leave VDC on.

VDC "OFF" = No traction control [VDC OFF light IS on]
VDC "ON" = Traction control is on [No VDC OFF light]

VDC is on by default.

Basically what I think he's saying is that his 04' Fx slipped on a wet upward road while VDC is on (working).. he's asking if its normal for it to do so..
maybe your tires are in bad shape? :k: next time if it slips on an upward road maybe the snow button would help? (provides low end torque etc..)
This once happened in my Fx too on a wet corner, the Fx under-steered mainly because i was going too fast luckily nothing happened... :shy:
btw sent you a pm ya khaye

no, he said the light was ON meaning VDC was OFF.

True but also even if the vdc is on the car also slips when I try to drive faster a bit on wet roads and if i keep my leg on the pedal it keeps slipping ! So I just release my leg until :) it becomes calm lol !

So I shouldn't turn VDC off on wet roads ! Just drive slowly :) ?

well, yeah, if you are slipping and continue to gun it you will continue slipping.....

Thats what happens once I release my leg the car calms and return to normal ..
So there is no button to stop the car from slipping on wet roads ?

every car is going to slip on wet roads if you smash on the throttle especially uphill or on turns, VDC on or off, Traction on or off, doesnt matter. It calms down when you release your leg aka dont give it gas because then the wheels stop spinning and can regain grip on the road....thats why when you keep spinning them they will not catch grip.
if you gas it in the wet it will lose traction. Do you understand?

Remember, traction control or VDC can only do so much. At some point simple laws of physics takes over and next thing you know, you're in the ditches.

Take it easy on the gas in the rain. If you're not comfortable with wheel spin, you need to be especially careful when you turn. You don't want to experience oversteer for the first time in a rear drive in a rainy condition as it can be a bit much if you've never dealt with it.
