Sunroof not working properly! :(

All of a sudden my sunroof isn't working properly. The motor sounds fine and is working. But when I try to open it, it only slides open about 1/4 of the way. When I try to close it, it does this weird thing where it closes then tilts up, tilts down, tilts up again, tilts down again and then slides back about 1/8 of the way leaving a tiny bit of it open. Seems like the timing is off or something like that. I've read on here about some sort of "reset" you can do. Would that work for this problem? Anyone know how to perform a "reset"? I looked in the manual but the steps they listed don't work. My warranty is out so I'd really like to avoid going to the dealership. HELP!!

If the sunroof does not close or open automatically, use the following procedure to return sunroof operation to
normal.
1. Close the sunroof if it is not in the closed position. It may be necessary to repeatedly push the switch to
close the sunroof.
2. Press and hold the TILT UP switch. Do not release the switch, keep pressure on it. After 10 seconds of
depressing, the sunroof will tilt up, then tilt down. Release the button.
3. Press and hold the TILT UP switch again. Do not release the switch, keep pressure on it. While depressing
the switch, the sunroof will “Slide open” “Slide close” “Tilt up” “Tilt down”. Release the button after the
sunroof “Tilts down” and stops.
4. Initializing procedure is complete. Confirm proper operation of the sunroof (slide open, slide close, tilt up,
tilt down.)

did you do the reset procedure that aiya posted?

theMerchant - yeah, i've tried it. i might be doing it wrong though. i can't seem to get the sunroof closed all the way on step 1. do i just keep pressing the button until i think its closed? when i press for longer than 2 seconds it does that weird tilt up, tilt down, slide 1/4 thing.

I've never done it either but I read it as having to press and release and press again as many times as needed for step 1. Good luck and let us know if and when you get this resolved.

hey guys sorry to bring this up from the dead but my roof won't open at all..... but my windows are fine.....from what i read i understand the roof and windows are part of the same fuse. But is still want to check it but both fuse boxes don't say anything about the sunroof or windows........can anybody tell me wich fuse i have to check and where...?

There isn't a separate fuse for the sunroof. Per the FSM, you should check these two fuses in red.

FSM = Factory Service Manual. Yeah, I really don't think those two fuses the problem, especially the one for the BMC. The car will not work right. it a main fuse. Also, if tge other fuse will have other apparent symptoms if it was blown.
