Steering column loose

Just bought an 03 fx35 and when the steering wheel/dash goes into position it has some play in it, but when the car is off and it goes up its tight. (Not turning-wise but up and down). Any easy fix for this?

It is a quite an assembly with many moving parts so it is hard to say, but likely it is a loose or washed out bolt, I suggest to remove all covers underneath the steering wheel and have a look while moving the steering wheel in all directions. It should be quick easy to find out what is causing the play.

^ :plus1: You definitely need to remove the steering column covers to do some investigation on your own. To remove the covers, just undo the three phillips screws around the steering column and squeeze the top and bottom to separates them. Best to fully extent and lower the steering wheel when removing the covers.

look like you need a tilt bushing for this one. the whole steering column needs to come out in order replace the tilt bushing. just in case you decide to replace it here's the part number steering column tilt bracket kit 48950-CL00A.
