Starting on the FX

Hey - some of you might remember me from last year with my custom EX - see that section for pics.

I got rid of that and have a Z Roadster. But also have a '12 FX in Black Obsidian. About to start on it.

Mods so far are vinyl blacked out chrome door trim, tinted tails, tinted windows, full LED in and out.

Next up are OEM body kit, painted to match front grill, and wheels. Not sure if i'll be putting the Akebono Infiniti brakes on this car - put them on the EX and loved it. But it was about 2100 fully installed.

Question on wheels - due to LA roads not going to 22.

So my choices are:

1. M56S 20's

2. GTR 20's

3. MRR HR2 (had them on my G35S sedan and EX). Not sure about these as they only come in 20x8.5 - and i want at least a 20x9 for a wider tire.

4. Vossen CV3 in black with machined face.

5. Cordon CR-12

I see soo many Vossens for sale on the G37 site. Wondering if there is a reason so many buy then dump them.

I want ZERO issues with the wheels.

I personally would go with the GTR's, looks awesome on the 1st and 2nd gen. The Vossen CV3's are cool too but it seems like everyone has them these days

If you aren't going to go any to 22's (which is a much better size than 20 on the 2nd gen). then GTR's are a great choice.

how are you not tired of the MRR HR2? TBH I don't even really like how they look, and 8.5" wheels are a joke. The wider the better, gives a much more aggressive stance.

The reason why you see so many Vossen wheels for sale, is because they are becoming pretty played out. Thats as far as I am going to take this, the wheels look great but seeing them on every car is getting a bit boring. the CV3's are by far the worst for this, followed closely by the new CVT's (give it a couple months these will be on every damn car come summer time).
 
For an OEM wheel, the GTR is a better choice than the M56. Out of the aftermarket options, Vossen CV3 has the best look. It's clean and simple while the other 2 look a little "vintage". Vossen's are popular on the G37 site because of pure marketing reasons. They targeted them heavily and everyone loves to follow the leader. Now they're dumping them and it appears everyone is getting on the Forgestar Super Deep Concave bandwagon (already happening w/ BMW's). It's similar to Work wheels and the G35/350Z forums. A few years back, everyone had the T1S in almost the exact same offset. It was just to a slightly lesser extent because Work wheels are more expensive. If you like the look of Vossen, there are other cheaper options. Vossen is very overpriced for a cast wheel.
 
Thanks - I just typically like a wider 5 spoke. Here are my bad photoshops - not really sold on the GTR based on a OB FX pics i found wearing them...and I'd have to find 4 fronts...

The vossens are always tight. I think the gtr on that first one look nice. I like the third set from the top! What are those. They are just different. GTRs are becoming more and more popular I GUESS I would vote for something more original but just me. I but vossen gtr and that third set would be my choices in the bunch no order
 
I always liked the 20 x 10s Forgestars on Sydneys Ride. He had them powder coated in a dark gunmetal/charcoal colour.

Most of those photoshops are closer to 22" than 20". Sometimes a wheel will look great in one size and not so great in another.
 
Oh I thought they were supposed to be 22s! Yea they for sure look 22s in the photoshopped version. But that set of 20s looks really good especially for the size
 
The pic of the MRR I had to reload. Yes - PS is closer to 22's - and that FX has been dropped and does not have the OEM body kit. But it gives a general idea. 3rd from top is now 4th - and those are the Cordons. - which is where I'm leaning - but I would remove the chrome insert in the middle of the spoke. It's an option. e
