Start up noise on my 13 fx50

Hello everyone - just wondering if any other fx50 owners have a winding- similar to a worn powersteering pump sound at start up with your fx50. Neither of my fx35 sounded like this at all. Thanks!!

Its probably the VVEL tech in the engine your hearing. The 35 doesn't have VVEL. Only the 50 and 37. They have been known to be noisy unless you use the Nissan Ester oil.

Ok thanks. Def not in the valve train tho. Our 3.7 never did it either. I have a 12 pos qx56 that sounds the same but has a failing pump. Time will tell. It's something that doesn't sound right- and sounds like an old ford starting.

Maybe you could make a video , mine doesnt make a noises at start up...well at least not any bad noises.

Nope. Compressor is quite. The Infiniti dealership heard it but aren't too familiar with fx50s considering they have only sold a handful. I think it's just a pump and is the nature of the beast. I have a long warranty so if anything goes south it's covered. I couldn't upload a video of the noise either.

Cold weather + big motor = noises until it warms up. At least that's my experience with the 50. Where in NY are you located?

I'm in Glens Falls- it's 45 miles north of Albany- 8 miles shy of Lake George. Yup much agreed- it's a lot of getting used to having the V8. I've owned all 6 before so the rumble is new to me. As for the start up - it's more annoying I guess- especially starting up in a garage and other people have even asked what's wrong with it. Owell. We will see

OP, post up a video. Curious about the noise. If other people notice it too, its should not be ignored.

I'm working on the upload now- sorry folks. The A/C compressor is going bad. Well I've been a car nut all my life and to find out my FX has been hit - and looks like pretty good. It's a dud. It's been in the shop 5 times now so I'm prob going to unload it.

I had thoughts that it had been hit because of orange peel. When I removed the drivers side seat to do the mod on it the bolts weren't lined up- seats been out. Then drivers side seatbelt retractor was broke. Then coolant leak where a hose was leaking which was totally gone. I put it on a lift and found clampes bolts etc were removed. Infiniti service confirmed it. The nose has been off. I've been around enough cars that have been hit to know what to look for but let my guard down with this thing. 2013 with 4200 miles and not cheap to begin with. It was a lease bought in the end of April and sent to auction October. Car fax is also a goody good tool and there are other ways around it. The qx56 Infinti took in on trade was junk so they looked at it- it was in a crash and obviously in bad shape. They said car fax was clean- so it's going to auction. Well I learned a big lesson and hope that nobody else goes through this.

As for the QX56 - it was a 2012 with 40k. I used it for 3 days the seat and steering wheel were both rocking, and the alignment was was off. There was obvious overspray on the doors too. The service rep called me and said it was in a front end collision and the repair work was horrible. Clean car fax is what got me.

Hey why was that QX56 junk? What year was it and what was wrong with it? I spoke to people that bought one and they love theirs. My mom is going to be buying one soon.

Actually I'm now looking at a 14qx80. The QX56 that I had was in a crash and had a lot of damage underneath. The Infiniti dealership let me use it for 3 days. The door didn't shut right and overspray was all over. They put it on the lift and discovered that it had frame damage and sent it to auction. Even tho it was rough- it was perfect size for me. My FX50s is a neat vehicle but unfortunately has some issues and I will be trading it in soon
