Spare Tire Area

Hey Everyone,

I just picked up my FX45 2 weeks ago. Got the maintenance up to speed by my mechanic but he pointed out some greasy texture in the spare tire area. This texture also emits some odor that doesn't smell like gear oil or anything. I checked it out and notice sludge and oil material again not oil. It looks like lining in between the spare and the body of the car? Have you guy seen this before? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Looks almost like some cheap sound deadening material that has melted.

Looks like the factoring deadening material melted, probably from the exhaust heat. Mine was starting to do this when I got rid of it, not as bad though. Maybe the previous owner also spilt something in the rear.

maybe the spare was really hot when he put it back thus melting sound deadening material

or maybe he rust proofed the car and te guys decided to do the inside also. check under your car,doors, hood for the same oil

I got it checked out and sound deadening material it is everyone. I had the folks who detailed the interior check it out and they wiped off the 'wet' material. Thanks everyone!
