Smart start question

Hey guys, just had a remote start with smart start installed. Here's my question, when I start my car from Smart Start, are you able to just jump in the car and drive away?

When I use my start start on my iphone and get in the car, I have to do a reboot on the car. If I try to go in reverse it will turn off. Is this normal?

I have the smart start also in my FX. If i use the ap to start the fx, i have to unlock the car then turn the ignition to the on position, step on the brake which deactivates the remote start and i drive away. No turning off then on of the car.

I contacted the installer and he says I has to give it about 10-20 seconds to detect to factory key fob, otherwise it thinks someone's stealing it. Will have to test

So there's a lot of security features on this smart start. If the door isn't locked when the car starts it will auto shutoff if you try to put it in reverse. Car must be locked and the door unlock has to be detected or it will kill the engine.

Pretty neat.

Problem solved

Mine goes like this:

start with fob, car stays locked.

I can approach the car and try to open door it will stay locked unless I unlock it with button on handle or fob

Get in car, need to press brake (with key fob on person) before I do ANYTHING otherwise the car will shut off.

It's supposed to also have a 2 min timer but it doesn't always work.
