Just replaced my rear rotors and pads. Since then, the SLIP and VDC light will sometimes come on while I'm driving. No change in feel at all. There are times I'll drive without any warning lights coming on, but other times they come on as soon as I put the key in the ignition.

I have thought through a few of the possible causes, and also did a search for this same problem. Mine came after the rotors & pads were replaced, so I gotta think it's related.

1) Could I have put in the rear pads incorrectly? I noticed a metal "tang" on one of the pads that I read was supposed to be for a wear sensor. But I didn't see any mating parts. Could this be related?

2) I need to re-teach the brake pedal limits because the new rotor is a bit thicker than the OEM rotor I had turned down a couple times?

3) The parking brake doesn't like the new rotor?

I'd really love to know where the sensor is that triggers the SLIP light, and what it measures. Can somebody help me out with how to get rid of the lights so they function like they should in the future?

yeah man, if you have a red brake light on too then it's the fluid low...

if you DON'T have a red brake light on too. then check the rear wheel sensors. there are sensors at each of the 4 hubs that the computer uses to read wheel speeds & this is how it determines slip...

those brake wear sensors don't mate to anything... when the brakes get low enough that "sensor" will contact the rotor & it'll sing like a bird, letting you know you need brakes before you do wind up with metal to metal contact, where the singing becomes a growling..

Good stuff, thanks. I will check the fluid level again, but before and after removing and painting the rear calipers, I topped off the fluid. After installation, I bled the system and topped it off again.

The red BRAKE light does not come on, only SLIP and VDC OFF.

I have the maint manual, so I can find the wheel sensors. But have you ever had to mess with them at all? Make any adjustments or replace? Once I find them, I wonder what it is I'm looking for. I guess, just something obviously out of place?

Did the front BBK this weekend and completely drained and refilled the system. Since then, no lights at all. Makes me think my last bleed was not done properly. This time I used a vacuum bleeder and it seemed to go pretty quickly.

Anybody ever need to, "bleed the ABS"? One of my non-FX car buddies suggested that it was something the dealership would have to do. Never heard of such a thing.

Since there are no warning lights, I'm thinking I'll just leave it alone. Since the upgrades were completed, the brakes feel great.
