Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone has experience with shipping cars? I need to help my sister ship her car from Atlanta, Georgia back to NYC. Does anyone have a recommendation/experiences with a particular shipping company?

No need for closed container unless you guys think it is absolutely necessary. The vehicle is a 2010 RX350.

I shipped my fx from Cali to Chicago using Montway auto transport. I used them 2 times before also, great company, good prices and never had any problems.

I've shipped 3 times. Each was full on across the country treks and I chose closed trailers. If you quote 3 places you'll get 3 different prices and you may get a certain warm and fuzzy feeling about them or not. I prefer to talk to someone, but really in the end they just broker it out anyways. At least if something goes wrong, yoh know who to call and who will answer the phone or return a message.
The price is negotiable, so feel free to haggle if you wish.
Don't expect too much. They may not have certain detailed info. Let's say you play your order today for pickup next Thursday and pay ~1/2 deposit, they may not even finalize their part of the deal until Thursday morning. Each carrier company will have drivers spread around and always on the move. When your day comes, yoh get tossed into the mix. Then from Atlanta, the truck may go to Memphis and Chicago before it lands in NYC. That's just the way of the business. You can't worry about it too much. It is a reliable process, but usually not the most timely schedule wise.
The remaining payment usually goes to the driver picking up.
 
Thanks Rip! Does anyone know what I should be expecting? Montway is about $800 from Atlanta to New York. Trip distance is around 900 miles

Thanks pork also! (sorry didn't see your message till now). I've gotten quotes from $900 to $450. The guy who gave me the higher quote is trying to convince me that the 450 is a scam haha.

When I was getting quotes for NYC down to Atlanta, it was $7-900. $450 seems a little low, but it depends on a lot of things so it could be legit. I've heard of $500 from Atlanta to Boston and that was legit.
