My 2006 FX45 has the optional Sheer platinum metallic paint job. About a year ago I decided The SPM color with a black interior was what I wanted so I looked and looked, flew around a bit and finally found my car in So Cal. During the search I saw 3-4 FX's with the same paint code that had funky spots in or under the clear code like clouding spots, light spots that were not surface issues...... Fast forward my car is nearly perfect BUT the paint is sensitive to the point if you rub up lightly against it with a nylon bag it will leave light scratchs. They will rub out with wax but I have never owned a car with paint that has been this delicate. My question: Is it just the SPM color that is an issue? Is it the 2006 silvers or does the problem go broader than this? It's making me crazy. My little girls run up to my car at the end of the day to say hi and its like "don't touch the friggin' car"!

WOw...

TrainerKen has the same paint you have.. He will probably interject and tell you about his experiences...

But the expert on paint is TurboCad..

Thanks Bert, curious to see what's up. The other cars subtle paint issues caught my eye. I thought to ask before I bought but I really fell for the color and just pushed on through. I feel like I should clear coat the entire car......

If you do that then you will just be protecting your baby even more...

Just need to make sure if you do go down that road that you get a place that knows how to do it...

Or you can just add more metallic or white pearl to your existing color and clear coat heck out of it and you will have a brand new car...

Check out Rookies Widebody thread when he had it with the DG with white pearl..

IT looked HOT>.

Pearl would be slick, I have minor damage on the drivers side doors and I'd like to paint the rear wing so that gets me what, 15% there....? I'll check the thread.....
