Shallow Mount Subwoofers

Right now I have two 10" L5 subs in a sealed enclosure. At the time I put my system together this was about the smallest package I could come up with. After trying to load 3-4 golf bags in there last summer, it became apparent that even this setup was a little to big. I recently considered purchasing some shallow mount subs, and redesigning a box to make it at small/thin as possible. Also considered fiberglass, and maybe two separate enclosures, on either side of the trunk, each housing a single 10" shallow mount sub. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with these type of subs. Can I expect to get the same punch as a non-shallow mount of similar size and power? Can anyone recommend any specific subs that they have used that might fit my application? Looking to buy two subs, each 300W RMS. My amp will do 600W RMS at 2 or 4 ohms, so that isn't really an issue. Just looking to get some feedback before I make a move. I have been eyeing the Rockford punch stage 3 shallow mount 10"s.

There are couple jl makes a 15 shallow sub that will crush most dual set ups fosgate p3s comes in 12 n 10 just google shallow mount subs n there are few on you tube showing them bump.

Those JL ones are pretty sick. If one could handle 600W RMS I would pull the trigger for sure. But at 450W RMS, I would need to get two, and at $350 a piece, its more than I'm looking to spend right now.

Actually I may be wrong. My amp will do 600W at 2ohms and 600W at 4 ohms. Is it safe to assume that it will also run 600W at 3ohms? Never seen a 3 ohm sub before in my life. Datasheet says that this sub will handle 600W continuous power, so I think I'm in perfect shape.

Wonder if i could build this into a box on my rear hatch? Would the gas shocks be able to lift the extra weight of this sub and a fiberglass enclosure? that would be sweeeetttttt

the best shallow mount I've used in a lot of cars is an illusion audio carbon fiber cone, neodymium front mount magnet kick ass sub that's only a few inches thick. the original nd-8's,10's, 12's & 15's were the best.. I even have a pair of nd-10's in my front doors with completely flush door panels in my other car...

can't find a picture of the 10" in the door now but here's what a 15" looks like. these haven't been made in years & they still go for good $$ on ebay when they pop up, but if you could get your'e hands on these there awesome, few inches thick but hit like a monster sub... the nd-10's are super rare but worth it if you ever found a pair...
