Hello Everyone,

I had a disappointing turn of events recently. My 2009 FX 50S just came out from service at the Glencoe,IL dealership after they basically didn't do their jobs the first time two months ago (160 pt inspection before warranty approval). After changing the oil, oil filter, cabin filter and both air filters myself I had an issue with the battery (car didn't start). This vehicle has only 31,900 miles as of today and this is the THIRD battery on this car on top of which they discovered that the radiator hoses and clamps needed to be changed (warranty, thank goodness I got it). They discovered that after I informed them that the reservoir for anti freeze was empty and I was pissed off since they told me everything was fine.
Now this is the problem: Why do I have a "service engine soon" code coming up?
 
Go to Autozone to get the trouble code if you don't have a code scanner/reader at home. Without the trouble code, you have no clues as to what have triggered the CEL.
 
Hello Everyone,

I called the dealership today in regards to the CEL and to my surprise that wanted me to make sure that my gas cap was on tight. I went this morning again to the gas station and I really didn't seem any issues with the gas cap being loose. I made sure to hear the "CLICK" so I am going to wait two days and if it is still on then I am taking it in.
 
I would just go to Autozone to have them retrieve the trouble code. You can always go to the dealer, but in my mind, just way to time consuming just to have them retrieve the code. Most will make you make an appointment and come back. At least, that is with all the dealers around me.
 
+1 on getting it scanned for free at autozone. It's always nice to know what's going on with the vehicle prior to taking it in to the dealer.

P0729 on mines cleared with Scanner has not come back since but time to change transfluid at 104k miles. Changed transfer case matic s now doing fro and rear diffs
