Seat Differences

I have a rocking 2003 fx45 seat, question is, I have to option to buy a new seat out of a wrecked 2008 FX, Would it fit or would I need to just repair what I have, I wanted to see if it would just bolt in or not and I cannot find any info on it.

I think the controls are in a different place on the newer models - side vs. top. Not sure if that means the wiring might be different.

Gotcha, I just need to know for a 1st gen, if the seats vary by year, My seat is on its last leg!

Dimensionally I think they're the same. But on your model, the seat controls are on top like this.



On the newer models (06-08), they're on the side like this.




I don't know if that means the wiring harness may be different. The brackets are probably the same. And you'd have to make sure that the new seat has the same features as your current seat or the wiring will definitely be different.

well dang, i just want to know if they bolt up or not, and yes mine looks like the top one.

Some things you may just have to find out for yourself. It's not a common question. I personally wouldn't have a problem giving it a shot, but it depends on how cheap the new one is. I think it would work and worst case you splice some wires. I think the mounting points would be the same.

I would say the wiring should be the same if not just difference in lengths of wires... Wouldnt make sense for them to change it. Just IMHO. I've been wondering if the G35 seats fit.. Lol

G35 seats would be smaller and lower would they not be? I am sure something can be done, maybe taking the G35 rails with the seats and then adapting them to FX. For wiring, if you have a wiring diagram, it wouldn't be too hard. If buddy on here got RS4 Audi seats to fit, G35 seats would be a joke to make fit

The G35 sedan seats are remarkably similar. My brother had one and I was going to see if his seats would fit, but never got around to it and he sold it. The G35 coupe seats fit the G35 sedan so they'd probably fit as well. But I do think they'd be narrower and lower. The mounting points would likely be the same as the chassis is basically the same. But if the seat is too low, that would cause some problems and would require special brackets. A narrower seat probably doesn't matter much, the gap between the console would just be slightly wider.

I used G35 sunvisors in my FX at one point while min were out being recovered in suede and the G35 definitely has smaller visors, but the mounting points are the same.

Well the thing is, I can get an 08' seat in PERFECT shape for 175, everything included, so I'd like to try it but not sure if it will work, IE harness different and what not.
