I was driving on my local road on the way home going about 40mph, had to brake because a car in front of me braked to turn and after i went to accelerate back to 40 but my car engine reved to about 4000 and i wasnt going anywhere. So i was just thinking what the hell is going on? i let off the pedal and made my way to the side and let the cars pass. It felt like if my car sliped into neutral or it missed it gear shifting or something but i tired to go again but it just revend my engine and didnt go anywhere. So i tried switching it to park and back to neutral and it worked again but as i drove it felt like it went back to neutral engine reved again so i was like hmm let me try to down upshift see if its the gears but nothing happened so i pulled to the side again and this time i just completely turned the car off and back on and everything was okay again. Anyone tell me what happened? little scared to drive my car again, if i was on the free way it would of been bad. So basically my shift knob was on drive the whole time then suddenly it just felt like it was on neutral. Car only has 21,000 miles and my gas was low like the second line im not sure if that will effect anything. Assuming its a tranny problem?

Had not heard of this issue yet with a 2010. But first Gen, that could either be throttle body, or cam sensor.

I've heard of this it happened to me before and a few others. The transmission went into some fail safe mode. I really have no idea what it is but it only happened once to me when I was doing spirited driving. I slow to a stop then accelerate and the car wouldn't go as if it was stuck in a certain gear or in neutral.

I haven't thought too much of it since then because it happened once and that was a few years ago.

I guess it could be throttle body, there was a issue posted due to bad shifting so maybe thats it. I was gonna clean it but got to busy with school. Thanks guys

How hard did you brake? IMO this sounds like part of the issue most of us have disscussed with constantly having to reprogram the ECM and TCM. I occasionally have issues with my 50 where I am driving at speeds above 50 and I will brake harder than normal because of road conditions or traffic and I get a SUPER HARD downshift that sounds like my me engine is racing hard for a few seconds even though I'm slowing. It's gotten better since my last update but it still happens. Your case does sound a little extreme but when it happens to me it is scary nonetheless. Especially when your braking hard but the engine reving gives you the feeling/impression that the car wants to lurch foward.

Yeah ive experienced that too and did research but this time it was different. It seemed like the gear was on neutral. I let the car even kinda just roll with out gas letting the rpms drop and tried to accelerate again but it only reved. Probably gonna clean the throttle body soon and take it in for a check get a update.

Honestly, cleaning the throttle body won't do much to correct this issue. You may have had a throttle body failure, or as Fire said, a trans issue. You're under warranty, take it to a dealer ASAP.

have the dealer reprogram the ecu or remove the negative battery terminal for some time and reconnect to clear out the trans auto learn.

I've never had this problem.
