S50 to S51 Conversion?, Possible?

Hi there,

This is my first post/thread on this forum, I would like to ask whether it is possible to make an S50 FX35 look like an S51 car?, as in replace the front-end and the rear tail-lights?, I know nothing about Infiniti cars, except that they are to Nissan what Lexus is to Toyota, however over the past couple of weeks I've been looking into getting a new car and I came across a 2004 Infiniti FX35, under 70k miles, good history and a reasonable price, however, it would be pretty sweet if I could get it to look like a later model FX i.e. S51(?) since I can't afford one of the newer model cars.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see it working but then again for the right amount of money anything can be done. Probably gonna cost more to do it than to get a new FX. Also the lines of the new and old don't even look similar so I don't see it just bolting up or looking good for that matter
 
The fenders are very different between the two generations; the area around the headlights specifically. With body work and money, it would work.

I do not suggest you try to do this. The number of parts required to do just a 2003-2005 conversion to a 2006-2008 are astronomical.

The amount of bodywork, custom parts and trial and error will simply be the most punishing task to overcome. You will end up spending way more trying to do this than it is worth it, and most likely still end up with a car that is inferior to the real thing (the engine, transmission, interior) would all still be from a 2004. It makes almost zero sense.

You're best bet would be to get a 2009+ car shipped from elsewhere in the world to Kuwait.
 
The 03-05 and the 09+ don't share a single body part.. You would have to redo the entire body which would take a lot of $$$ by the time you spend that much you might as well get an 09+ they are starting to get cheap​.
 
Didn't want to create a new thread but anyone know what the parts list to do a front end facelift. i have a 2005 that recently got into an accident and would like to do the conversion to the 2007+ look if the list of parts isn't too much and worth doing. Thanks

You just need two parts, a new bumper and a new grille, both need to be from a 2006+ vehicle.

They will bolt directly to the existing underpinnings of the car, no further mods necessary.

You would need the lower chrome strip from the 06+ and the fog lights too for a complete job
 
And I'm pretty sure you have to remove a piece of the bumper/radiator reinforcement to fit the 06+bumper as well.
 
Ok sounds good. Bumper/fogs/grill but im not exactly sure what u mean by removing a peice of the bumper reinforcement. Are u referring to the foam cushion right behind the bumper or the actual reinforcement bar.

I was mostly concerned with having to buy new splash shields and fender linings as it wouldnt line up properly.

....How about convincing a7mado to buy your '09 and ship it to Kuwait instead of fusing an 04 and a 09 together.......?
Just a crazy thought....:tongue:
 
+1 I agree there is no way that it can happen unless you spend tons of $. Might as well buy an 09 new body
